I believe they were referring to the development of Halo 2.

Okay, to all the negative comments who think I'm a retard and don't know about perspective...I realize it was Hell for Bungie to make. But, what I'm trying to say is...they didn't say anything negative about Reach. They even dared to say that it was perfect. Which, in reality, it's probably the worst Halo (IMO) and has many flaws. Including of which, the giant flaw of disregarding three novels and taking a crap on the canon.

They said it was the perfect game for them. It was the perfect game for them to make. They had the best experience making that game than all the others. At no time did they say "Halo: Reach has no flaws".

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

We all know Reach sucks compared to the God game known as Halo 2. Bungie just wants their game to keep selling so people can see they develop games, get the word around. Nobody is going to want to buy their horrible game if the developers admit the thing is trash. They didn't even add a hint of original Halo music, even ODST did that. I'm sorry but Reach sucks.

They were talking about the development stage of the games-how Halo 2 was stressful and frustrating for them while Halo: Reach as hard work but at the same time a blast.

And, they said that they want to make games that they want to play.

  • 08.08.2011 8:27 PM PDT

from their standpoint they failed with Halo 2. They wanted to put everything in Halo 3 story into halo 2 and they couldnt because of limitations. So even though it was amazing in their eyes they still failed because they did not achieve what they set out to do.

With Halo reach they did what they wanted to do plus some. They were very pleased with their work so therefor they think it is the best one they have made. Its all personal opinion and unless you work for Bungie or a company that does somthing similar(splitting a project apart) you wont fully understand the way they feel

Whilst that's reasonable, I find it outrageous that they didn't admit they did things very wrong with Reach's story.

Perhaps you might want to watch the vidoc again.

Reach was something they wanted to do for a long time, and they personally felt great doing it.

Like it or not, it is your opinion.

This all could've been avoided if the OP decided not to make an ass of himself with nothing more than a glorified, "Reach sucks, lol" thread.

I would've called report and move on from the get-go.

Too bad that's not the kind of thread I was trying to make. Now you're making an ass out of yourself. I'm trying to get the point across that it annoyed me that Bungie didn't admit any Halo: Reach mistakes and praised it while not hesitating to jump all over Halo 2.

After distorted canon, it can make the game not fun. I know a few, and I'm sure there's others, who feel the same way. How can you enjoy something when you know it doesn't follow what's already been established? Apart from this, the story that they did replace is just...terrible. It has one-dimensional characters who aren't likable and the only one who showed any signs of hope was Jorge who died early on. There wasn't any character development or overall characters like they had in ODST. You can see all my reasons for disliking the campaign in the thread I linked. I'm not going to keep rambling on about it. But, one last thing, was it just me or was Noble Team having a "Who can die in the most epic way contest!"

Ok, so what you're saying is you didn't enjoy the game because you didn't like the campaign, that still doesn't sound like a flaw within the game it sounds more like "I don't like it.".

You're allowed not to like it but just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's flawed.

Youngie by day Youngie by nature.....

The reach story was a let down for me, just at how bad they messed up the established cannon :S

Personally, I've enjoyed all of the games equally. While Combat Evolved will always be my first and foremost favorite of them all, Halo: Reach was a great game.

I enjoyed the campaign and being able to customize Noble 6 the way I wanted. Yeah, some things as far as canon goes didn't/doesn't add up, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying a great game.

Adding in Fire Fight was a bonus for me, too.

Not it doesn't, it just says "I didn't like this, this, this and this. I preferred this in this Halo and blah blah blah", you didn't state any real flaws within the game, simply things that were not to your liking.

Okay, then. Read Fall of Reach, then play the Reach campaign. It's pretty obvious.

Would the a game based on the Fall of Reach be that good? nope.

Might of been good, might've been bad. Then, they shouldn't have made Reach, in the first place, if it would've been so bad to use the book instead of just disregarding the canon completely and replacing it with something terrible.

Tha Fall of Reach is one of the pivotal moments of the Halo universe, it makes sense Bungie would want to explore it.

So, they explore it by disregarding three already established novels and replace it with a half-assed story and one-dimensional characters with no characters development? Makes sense.

Is that all you got?
Canon breaks?

Actually I suppose that's the only real flaw, although it's not as bad as having to cut out the ending of the game.

Also I read The Fall of Reach a while before I played the campaign, and guess what? I still enjoyed the campaign, so they changed some stuff around to make the story of the game work, big whoop.

It was still a fun campaign, and the book written by someone outside of Bungie is a good read too.

No, but I'd like to think a true Halo fan would like to know that Halo's story is being preserved and not ridiculed because Bungie got lazy and careless. Also, what about the one-dimensional characters with no character development? I'd consider that a pretty big flaw. ODST did a perfect job with this. Reach is quite the opposite. Not to mention gameplay flaws like Armor Lock and Bloom...

It's simple. They called Halo 2 a fail and Halo: Reach the perfect Halo game. *facepalm* The rest was great.

I agree that that was annoying because Halo 2 was awesome and definitely the best multiplayer Halo on XBL.

The final game was the best Halo game IMO
