So I was thinking earlier today about what would happen if Halo and Firefly were in the same universe. While they don't entirely match up story-wise, they both take place in the 2500s and from an insurrectionist's point of view, both the Alliance and the UNSC are pretty much the same thing, totalitarian governments (for the most part.) It would be totally possible and awesome if somehow a story was written (or better yet, a game)was done that melded the two. So what does the community think about this? Awesome? Or a horrible idea?

Nah, Firefly doesn't need an intergalatic space opera to corrupt it's "grass roots" style. Similarly, Halo doesn't need quality to interfere with what the fans love most about it either.

What has taken you a millennia to create, I destroy in seconds.

Just go play ODST. Basically the same thing.

Well their stories wouldn't have to collide at all, firefly could happen before the events of halo reach. I just think that they could coexist in the same 'verse, as Mal would say.

Except that Firefly catagorically rejects faster than light travel. Halo breaks the laws that the other universe has set out for itself, making it entirely incompatable from any story telling point of view, aside from the clear violations of tone, setting, and theme that would make writing any sort of cross-over a bastard child of ill-reason.

Or Starship Troopers.

Really? I was actually not aware of that.
