PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME GROUP INVITATIONS

The Halo REACH Script (post thoughts in thread)

Writing Lead of Whisper Studios. Check out Heron!

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

Borens syndrome..the Flood latched onto him..tried to take him over, but his Central Nervous System wouldn't allow it due to his Illness...so it told the rest of the infections forms what was up, and then he was left alone.

As for the thing about Africa..the Ark is in Africa..we stayed there during the rings' blast..survived..came out...and wrote the bible based off of the previous happenings, and apparently some things to come.

From the scientific perspective, humans first 'evolved' in Africa..

Halo is basically only saying how we got on Earth (neither byu evolution, or religion) so they won't really piss off too many people.

First Strike
Pg. 243-245

"The Sergeant survived," she said. "The only human to have direct exposure to the Flood meta-organism and walk away."
"I know," the Master Chief whispered. "I'm not sure how he survived. How could anyone live throught that?"
"That's the simple part," Dr. Halsey told him without looking up from her displays. She tapped a key, and the Sergeant's medical records flashed on the screen. "See here?" She touched a file dated three years before. "He was diagnosed with Boren's Syndrome."
"I haven't heard of it," the Chief said.
"I'm not suprised. It's caused by exposure to high-yield plasma. Like the burst released by a Covenant plasma grenade. We don't see many cases----people usually die from the direct effects of those weapons long before these secondary symptoms manifest.
"Apparantely, the Sergeant captured a crate of plasma grenades from the Covenant during the Siege of Paris IV. He used them all---recieved a commendation for bravery . . . and a twelvehundred-rad cumulative dose of radiation as an unanticipated bonus."
_________

The Master Chief finally said, "I don't see the connection between the Sergeant's sickness and his surviving the Flood."
"Boren's Syndrome," Dr. Halsey explained, "is characterized by migranes, amnesia, and brain tumors . . . and without the proper treatment, death. It disrupts the eletrical signals in a person's nervous system."
"Is it treatable?"
"Yes, but it requires thirty weeks of intensive chemotherapy. Which brings me to this." She hit the NEXT PAGE key and an official "Refusal of Treatment" document appeared on the screen. "The Sergeant did not wait thirty weeks to get back and fight."
The Master Chief nodded, understanding the heroic, futile gesture. "How did this disruption of his nervous system save him?"
"I've deconvulted the biosigns of the soldiers overtaken by the Flood. The parasite interfaces with a host by forcing a resonant frequency match to each host's neural system."
"And the Sergeant's nervous system is so jumbled that the Flood couldn't force a match?"
"Correct," she said. "Further blood tests show his system bearing traces of Flood DNA----very much dead and noninfectious, but some gene fragments are intact. I believe this is proof of a failed attempt to possess him. It also appears to have imparted him with some curious regenerative abilities, although I cannot yet fully confirm this side effect."

yeah, i know, the borings syndrome and the dead flood cells. but how DID he survive? after he pulled the flood off him, wouldn't the combat forms kill him? did he just walk around with the flood until he got picked up by the pelican? and remember how the flood infect already infected combat forms? wouldn't they just keep trying to infect him? wouldn't they all mass together and kill him? someone explain that

From what I read, either on HBO or here, they say that the Halo graphic novel will explain how he survived the Flood in Guilty Spark. Or something like that, I don't remember.

  • 07.04.2006 9:51 AM PDT

they straightened out how he didn't get infecttede in the novel

it was something to do with him lacking something in his blood that the flood needed to infect him but because he didn't have it they couldn't infect him as for escape there tons of ways he could have escaped for all we know he might have escaped beforer the master e.g. stole covent space worthy vehicle or something

By using his good old shotgun ;)
Obviously he didn't run around taking on each flood form like the Master Chief.

Flood infection is meerly a way fo the floods reproductive cycle (Making the flood perverts with the ammount of people they infect). They don't want something that won't benifit them, so they left him, it makes sence, sort of.

Seven7h Squad oooorah!

yeah dude, like the other guys aid, he was in an accident with a bunch of plasma grenades, and somehow it like altered someting in him that made it possible for him to be infected, they just couldent infect him. i think they talk about it in the last book, cuz that's when they find Sarge and the rest of the marines and the Spartan.

I just want to clear things up. Its true, Johnson got Boren's Syndrome, he is resistant to the flood, and no, he didn't get warped or saved. Only post here if you have read all of the Halo trilogy books( which I might add are a very good read) IT DOES NOT SAY ANYWHERE IN THE GAME. So before posting here, try to read the books, but for this forum, read First Strike.

We're going to find out in the Ghosts of Corral , how he survived and his past. Like his Flood immunity.

Very few of you have a damn idea of what you're saying. He has Borens Syndrome from using a crate of plasma grenades, which acts as a firewall for his Central Nervous System and DNA, and the Flood infections can't scramble. He got off Halo because Warrant Officer Polaski picked him up, and took him off Halo, and they hid in an asteroid field until the Master Chief rescued them. READ FIRST STRIKE!!!

i got really bored once and i started to browse wikipiedia (the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit) and i looked up the halo novels and i continued to read and it said that after the chief came back to earth he went back to reach to rescue another group of spartans and where they were hiding they found a forerunner object and then he went back to earth with the object and the spartans and then they found out that the object was somesort of time travel device that the covanent were despretly looking for and they were gonna use it to kill all of the humans and then kill all life in the galaxy cuz the flood would rule the universe. well they went back in time and they found sgt johnson and saved him cuz the chief knew that he and cortana where the only ones to escape halo except 343 guilty spark well after that when they were comming back to earth the covanent found the ship and then the spartans that were on reach were killed by the covanent tryin to get that time travel thingy the chief planted the device on an empty covanent crusier and then when the covanent closed in on the ship he detanated it killing the covanent and then he, cortana, sgt johnson and a few other marines went back to earth and then H2 began also if u look at prvt jenkins recording in the mission the flood in HCE the date is May 27 2552 and when H2 began the date is sometime in october the same year so the sgt johnson that u saw attacked was him then he died but after the chief went back into time the found him during the attack on reach and told him to come with me or you will surly die and since he is a little wimp he went with the chief and left the planet to be destroyed with out him just as it would with him there u happy now my hands hurt and i'm gonna put some ice on them and if you dont belive me go to wikipiedia and see for your self

While that's the most retarded idea I've ever heard, I don't blame you for bringing it up. Wikipedia can be editted by any happy jack who comes along. Hell, somebody can just go and change all the WW2 dates and nobody would ever know who.

Now, if you got that information regarding the Halo novels, I'm raising my eyebrow. No where in the novels does that happen. Anywhere. And someone's already answered the question about Jenkin's clock. It wasn't on Wiki. I forgot who, but it was mentioned in a thread.
What I remember, someone answered with how the Pillar of Autumn jumped out-of-system randomly, there's something about time change.

I'm willing to bet you've read the novels... or if you haven't, time travel is just too... random for Halo.

What an idiot :P (just kidding) but yeah as someone said already we are talking about Sergeant Johnson (the black guy) not Captain Keyes (who you are referring to, his daughter who we see in Halo 2 is Miranda Keyes and she is also a captain but of the In Amber Clad whereas Captain Jacob Keyes was Captain of the Pillar of Autumn, a brief Halo history lesson for you guys ;)

And there was never time TRAVEL in Halo, although the artifact they found did seem to bend the space-time continuum, it seemed almost to be able to create 'folds' in the universe, bringing two points in space or even time closer together, which is why when slipstream space travel occurs in a ship which contains this mysterious crystal, they seem to arrive at their destination much sooner than they should have.

Think of it this way: Say you want to travel from the Start to the End (McOriginal huh?) in the first scenario without the crystal it would take...let's say a week to travel that distance.

Start End

In this second scenario let's say that in slipstream space you are traveling down a long slide (I remember it described somewhat like this in one of the books, don't know which though, it basically said that when you go to slipstream space you are entering a whole different world that is full of tons of these 'slides' which connect any 2 points in space, and so you start at a point and follow the 'slide' to your destination) now the crystal has the magical ability to fold space so that the 2 lines I have 'drawn' below would meet, making you have to travel a much shorter distance.

Start | | End

Anyhow this is very confusing stuff, I hope its all sorted out in Halo 3, the Halo movie and during the course of the hopefully many more Halo novels to come.

Have you guys read the books? He got picked up by a peilcan!

Wrong. The marines decided to take a covanant capital ship with flood on it and go back to earth. Because there pelicans can't go that far and they didn't have that much fuel. Then that one lady blew it up with them all on it so the flood couldn't take the ship and get to earth.
Read halo the flood.

by saying this i will sound like a nerd but ... the flood doesnt infect the true blue sarge because the sarge took a plasma granaide and it screwed up his cell membraine *huff puff* sooooooooooooooooo the flood if a basic creature it laches on to its prey and injects them with a muscle nerve control viruse but to do this it must attack the cell membrain WHICH SARGE CLEARLEY DOES NOT HAVE because of his condistion. that is how he lived to see halo 2 and because he is invinsable in halo 2 he will proble live to see halo 3.but thats all remember about that topic i remember from when i read the books last year if its not all right a apologise.
