Just give me a couple of bullets and tons of hope

I am currently studying Degree in Telecommunications. After that, I will study the Telematics master. Wich mixes "Informatics" and "telecommunications". I think this can be useful in the Videogame industry, maybe for a job as Server Programmer, but im not sure.

Also, appart of your opinion (that I will like to hear) Do you know who I should contact to inform myself of this.

Thanks, community!

Cool reality, but I accept the terms and conditions of working in that world.

Go for a computer science major. Covers pretty much most things needed for the vidya.

Make yourself interesting. Don't start with jobs in the video game industry because you won't get it at first. Period.

Start somewhere else. Start several other places. Get experience. Credentials. References. A legitimacy as someone working in your profession. Then take a stab at a smaller company (even if you want to work at a bigger one). One like Bungie for example that currently has like 50 jobs open. (or something like that, probably more like 20)

And that video will help too that Scary Black Guy linked. It might crush your hopes and dreams, but it makes sense and might put you in the right mindset going in.

Also, major in computer science. If anything that will help you to get in, considering it encompasses most jobs in the video game industry not related to writing or business management.

Yes. That is my plan. But my question its more in the studying level. I am studying a career that (in the future) will be usefull to work in the videogame industry?

Here is the wiki link to the meaning of "Telematics" The Master I want to study.

My opinion is that you study what you want to study, no matter what field it is in.

Make whatever you want to do your hobby, and then try to get into games when you can. If not, continue it as a hobby and see where you end up. imo.

This killed my future, or anything that involved me in the gaming industry. It hurt a little.

Computer related, software engineer, visual effects many different options. "Video games" is a very broad topic, there are many different careers you could pursue.

So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

I am currently majoring in computer science, but I can either get a double major in that with graphic design or just do a minor in graphic design.

To answer your question though, computer science would allow you to work in the industry. It would be helpful to also get a minor in a related field, though.

Depends on which part of the game developing process you want to be in.

A New Media degree gives you knowledge of creating the characters and maps in different programs, but you need to be a bit of an artist on top of this. Or programming courses will give you knowledge of programming the game.

He's asking specifically what to study to help towards getting into the gaming industry. Not just "what should I study?" .

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

What part of the industry are you interested in?

You'd be surprised how little maths actually goes into a lot of games. Logic, sure, maths? Not as much. Useful, but not as important as learning coding languages.

Thank you Bungie,

See you starside.

If you're artsy, learn Graphic Design? I think it would be the most interesting part of game development.

Alternatively, you could go into writing? Games need stories if I'm not mistaken.

There are so many routes to one end, it's just finding the one that suits you the most.
