Yes, I AM just that awesome.

Update the -blam!- filter to include words like meatspin, fql, fqi, mylazysunday, -blam!-, and stuff like that.

But then there would be tinyURL, damn.

I honestly believe an account should have a gold membership on XbL to use the forums.

But Bungie is going multi-platform now, remember.

Besides, what about people like me who only like and are not avid gamers. It's ridiculous that I should have to pay to interest with other people who like the game.

He'd have instantly stopped and knelt down, one fist on the ground, hoping to be impervious to the officer's attacks. When this would have failed and he's in the back of the police car, he'd blame his predicament on his friends for not being team players.

Why? In my opinion this is the most logical solution. In your first few months with an account you should be lurking and learning the rules. You don't need to do heavy posting, and you really don't need links that much either.

People like imediate satisfaction.

Here is a sxenerio:

newbie: Cool, I joined this site so excited

*post *post *post

I hit the post cap. :(

newbie: Hey, I want to post a link of this cool vid I found in the Flood (which follows the rules)

I don;t have the proper authority? :'(

newbie: WHAT?1?, U have to wait A MONTH for all the site to open up for me?

That is non-sense, I am never coming back here.

That is what would keep happening.

And you realize the vast majority of new people who join up and "post post post" are the ones who post spam or post in the wrong forum right? They end up warned, or even banned. The post limit idea had a daily cap. I don't believe not being able to post links for the first month would drive people off.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

None of this is necessary.

The forums, titles ninjas, etc.

But I am saying shock sites are just a sad part of the internet.

There is no 100% way of stoping them unless you want to remove everyone's limited freedoms on this site in the process.

Maybe the solution to shock sites is NOT some complex system but being more aware of what you click and reporting a suspicious link and NOT letting the trolls win by making these threads which lets them know you are mad.

[quote]Posted by: ctjl96
Well the idea of this thread is to figure out what we can do to lessen the trolling. Shock sites aren't necessary.

I suggested to block bit.ly or tinyURLs. Why would you need them anyway? We can make named hyperlinks anyway, that's basically a shortened URL in itself (in appearance).

Brainwashing, idiotic media: "hur dur, vido gaems cas vilenc n iz nt gud. dey ned 2 b baned."

Logic: Really? Then please explain how there's violence in third world countries. I guess they're all poor due to the large amount of video games they buy.

What if somebody can't afford Live, plays PC, plays original XBOX, or has PS3? Bungie is not a microsoft exclusive anymore so they don't need to act like they still are.

Like I said, a filter list of ever-growing inapropriate sites or others said, the inabilty of people with member titles to name to post a named hyperlink, just the URL.

Posted by: ctjl96
It would certainly prevent alts. If you don't have a GT, why would you need to post in the forums?
EDIT: Actually, since Bungie no longer manages the Halo universe, my post doesn't really make sense.

Ken is right. All of you higher ranked users want an elitist system where only the Highly Ranked are able to enjoy the sight and it's a real sucky position to take.

I have been here longer than you're average user and I brought up the fact that I get treated like a new comer by the Mods with Old Papa Rich in one of our PM discussions.

It's a crazy idea.

I also seem to remember that you weren't a Mythic all that long ago, Ownage.

My thoughts exactly.

This. I definitely know the ropes around here, and it pissed me off earlier when someone tried to tell me "Oh, just PM a Ninja. Usually they'll respond if you're intelligent in the discussion." Like, thanks for the help, but I know what to do. I'm not new. I had another account back in ('08? '09?). There are a lot of members who prefer an elitist system, and I don't like it.

Have you even been reading my posts? I've said no to about all of these ideas. My last sentence on the honorable idea was near sarcasm. I wouldn't even be able post links if that system was in place. I think common sense is the greatest prevention. Which was what I said in my original post. Though, there is a reason we achieve higher ranks, which is not getting banned.

Your last sentence is completely irrelevant if you've even read my post. Yes, I've been mythic for about a month, and legendary 4 months prior.

EDIT: If you have been here longer than an average member, and are still a basic member, you most likely have a decent ban history. If so, the mods are banning you accordingly. Trust me, mods don't look at a title and ban based on that.

I think we know what it's like. Besides, most of the spam is only in The Flood. If you want to avoid it like I do, just don't go there. It's full of immature teenagers anyway.

Nope.
It's because I was absent for almost 10 months before signing back in (the gap between ODST and Reach), and I got caught in one of Achronos' carpet bans.
Should have seen that coming. The thread was extremely sketchy and I dropped in to make a snide comment. Weird thing is, I didn't get banned 'til a day and a half later.

Anyways, explanation = complete.

P.S. Wasn't trying to be rude with my original comment. I am always very direct with my points as I prefer not to make the typing any longer than it has to be.
