Just like you wouldn't take candy from a suspicious van, you shouldn't click suspicious links.

I don't think people need their hands to be held, they just need to use some common sense.
Common sense and Shi Options.

The way I was introduced to "protein rotation" was somebody just sneaking in a link that I would have guessed was just a Photobucket or YouTube link.

I knew of the site, I knew I didn't want to go there.

It wasn't a "learning opportunity" or a "losing my Internet virginity" moment. It wasn't something I'm happy about. It's not anything I would wish on anyone else.

Censor or expose (like my previous posts) the damn links. It's not something to laugh over, it's not something everyone should go through.

How about every hyperlink has a small amount of text next to it which notes the domain the hyperlink is pointing to? For example:

Website link! (reddit.com)

That would be nice for internet explorer users or people who can;t scan over links and see the URL.

It's completely unnecessary. If you don't know where a link is leading to and don't want to click it to find out then just right-click the link and press the "copy link location" option. You can then paste the link anywhere want to see where it goes.

If you mindless press links that you think are suspicious or harmful without doing any checks yourself then you shouldn't be using the internet.

Feel free to send me messages, please be willing to wait 6-8 years for a reply.

1-7 hours if you at least tried to make it readable.

Immediately if you are Yax, Telec, or legendary.

Never if you are mythic, you guys smell funny.

I dont see why we dont just make some users who frequent the flood more often than the ninjas, ninjas themselves, it increases the moderation in the flood, the current ninjas lose some workload, and we get less of these threads.

Everybody is happy.

What did I do? Achronos sent me that message... He just sent me another one.

Well I'm glad he sent you another one to clear up that spelling error. Oh, and he also cleared up the confusion over the font he was using.

Also, how would he know there was a typo?

There is not outbox.

Did Skibur PM Achronos over a spelling error?

Doubtful.

You don't think the overlord has a outbox?
Or, in the scenario he wanted to look over a message he sent, that he couldn't look at messages within someone else's inbox?

Come on guys - it's common sense.

In most web browsers, just rolling over the link should display the URL in a corner of the page - and that's all you need to do for a quick safety check.

Furthermore - you don't have to respond to them! Don't even bother pointing out the link is bad! Act like they're not there at all. We don't need a hundred do gooders all having the same idea. If their time is being wasted, rather than yours - they'll stop.
We had this problem on a Minecraft server I frequent recently, when huge numbers of griefers made it in - having changed their default spawn to a bedrock cell, and rounding them up - we kept them trapped, and carried on killing them and having a good time, until they left - having wasted no one's time but their own.
It will be exactly the same here - when people stop whining about the problem in hand, and treat it like it's not a problem, the people behind this will stop, because they realise they aren't doing anything to the site and people don't care.

It's not rocket science guys. Just start using your heads and listening.

Not to shoot you in the balls here but 80% of members here leave all that crap at the door. Complainers gonna complain. Read my long post a few posts up.
And the people who do that are just going to carry on getting burned.

Rather than whining about how other people should be fixing the problems for them - it's far easier on the internet to take it into your own hands and deal with it yourself.
And in this situation, you don't even need to post.

As ancient proverb says! 'Fools learn from their own mistakes, while the wise learn from the mistakes of others.'
But right now - it seems vast numbers of people aren't even learning from their own mistakes.

It can be compared to a small child, they touch a hot pan and burn themselves - having screamed and gone to their mother to get it dealt with, she will tell them it was silly and they shouldn't do it again - but of course, the next day, they go and burn themselves on the same pan.
It's the exact same situation here - and personally - I can now understand why so many Mothers spend their lives tearing their hair out and worrying about what their kids might end up doing next.

After being here for a couple years I pretty much abide by this.
Personally - it's the same wherever you go. But it's far more proactive to at least attempt to educate people than just let them carry on walking into glass doors.
Even if only one or two people learn - it's better than none at all.
I'll just keep posting the same old spiel where it's appropriate, and carry on hoping that it's going to maybe stop at least one more guy clicking that meatspin link.

If John Cena keeps on spamming the same website, "fql", why don't we just replace it with -blam!- or instant ban or something?

I give up on trying to help members here. Now all it seems I can do to help is seek a quick and efficient solution to shock-links. You are the better man my friend, Hooah.

Don't even waste yout energy arguing with anyone. I adore a good argumnet/debate face to face but they are rarely productive at all online.
