I think it was halo 2 i.e. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGo-7sX3Abw, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYwM3F8ZQQM, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjSMo8uM8E8, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Enjf6lRmhNY, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nih0Y4MNlsU, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqTkqhasT9U (some have some bad langue or something)

Also conversation wasn't interrupter by party chat like in halo's after h2. h3 had little to no conversation value to me when I played it due to the poor quality of interface to do it with. but I'd like to hear what others think in halo community.

We were somewhere around Barstow...

I would've said Halo 2 also. To be fair Halo 3 had a pretty good custom scene too.

Watch This.

Halo 2, by far!

Joined around Halo 3 community but was too young to know what a forum is... I came here when the Halo: Reach was coming out and realized I needed to know everything about it and the community wasn't so... What's the term? Happy? Satisfied? So, I'd have to say either Halo 2 or Halo CE.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

Marathon and Halo CE LAN parties in schools and dorms.

While Halo 2 was the first (and an amazing) attempt to capture that "virtual couch" experience, the nature of the Internet will always introduce undesirables into the experience.

If you read this I command you to buy Skyrim.

I wasnt around for H2 so I'll say H3.

Steam: Daft
Xbox: DaftMauS

Halo 1, even though I never got to actually have a "LAN party".

I hate the community, honestly.
I think that it's a piece of garbage.

That's why I only talk in party chat.

He'd have instantly stopped and knelt down, one fist on the ground, hoping to be impervious to the officer's attacks. When this would have failed and he's in the back of the police car, he'd blame his predicament on his friends for not being team players.

You mean you never had the guy at the LAN who was the self proclaimed "Best player ever?" Who always managed to spill the salsa and threw controllers?

Yes, and after a couple of head dunks in the toilet, even he would calm down.

Bungie never made a "virtual swirly" to accompany their virtual couch.

I honestly hoped you said no. I had the perfect joke I was going to unleash.

Virtual swirly? They did, celebratory crouching!

Agree and Disagree.

While LAN parties can be fun, they require organization, a group of people to also want to do it, agree on what and how to play etc...etc...

Though the online community is, by in large, people you don't know and probably don't want to, you can play when you want to, when you want to. Say I have an extra 15 minutes before school one day, I can head into a game of SWAT and be almost guaranteed to be done before I have to leave.

Convenience can sometimes be dominated by the want of a custom experience with people you know but sometimes the diversity and unexpectedness of the online universe can be what brings, to you, a better experience.

Point being there are pros and cons to both sides but I see more pros to the online aspect, never having played video games in a time when LAN parties were the preferred and popular way to play multiplayer.

You could also reach over and punch Steve who never leaves that corner. Only in LAN.

I would have to say the Halo 2 days, but Halo 3 had its moments earlier on.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

ODST. I believe that you have to be a true Halo fan to appreciate ODST for what it is. Because those ODST fans, like myself, don't care about the price-tag or no multiplayer. We love the game for it's great storytelling and campaign. Plus, you can't beat ODST amazing Firefight to top it off. Yes, I agree Halo 2 had a great community, but ODST deserves some recognition in my opinion.
