I am building a new computer and have all the parts except hard drive and cd/dvd drive. I found a site that shows you can go to the Bios without having all the parts. I tried this and it did not work, and i was wondering could a dvi adapter keep me from seeing the bios. I ask this because the Lcd screen i have is not dvi compatable.

my system specs so far
PSU: 480watt
GPU: BFG tech 6600gt pci-e
Mobo:Nvidia nforce4 Ultra
Process: AMD 64 3500+
Ram:1gb PatriotMemory

if no one can help me, this site mysuperpc might be able to help others.

Assuming you have connected every thing properly, you should be able to press the DEL key during start up and it will go into the BIOS. I have a Asus nforce4 Ultra mobo too.

Do you hear anything when you turn on the PC? (fans that start to spin, beeping sounds
Do you see anything on your monitor? (POST, memory test, IDE drive detection)
Does the little status light on your monitor change color when you turn on the PC?

Give us some info mate, or we can't help you..

Ok, since nothing at all comes up on your monitor I think the BIOS does show up, you just can't see it.

My guess: the IGP (Integrated Graphics Chip) on your motherboard is still enabled in the BIOS and your monitor is connected to your GF6600. If this is the case, you have to connect your monitor to the IGP first. Then go to your BIOS, disable the IGP and plug your monitor back in your GF6600.

What is the brand and type of your motherboard? It could be that it doesn't have one of course.

If it does have one, it should be on the back of the computer somewhere.
