Subject: Should bungie choose late night moderators?

'Tis my goal, but my hopes are not up. Member for <1 year = No Mod. I'll have to wait at least 3 years before I even have a chance.

Yeah I know. Also, to everyone here who has a goal of becoming a ninja, I think that only a very small percentage make it, so, don't get your hopes up like I used to for a year or two.

Battlefield 3 MASTER RACE
Mass Effect 3 MASTER RACE
Skyrim MASTER RACE
Coup MASTER RACE
Chrome MASTER RACE
I program games, that's all you need to know.

Late night moderators would be nice.

Brainwashing, idiotic media: "hur dur, vido gaems cas vilenc n iz nt gud. dey ned 2 b baned."

Logic: Really? Then please explain how there's violence in third world countries. I guess they're all poor due to the large amount of video games they buy.

We should have Super Ninjas or Assassins for the users who are constantly on every day for a tremedous amount of hours.

The problem is not where we are located, its what time we have available to be here watching things.

As far as the moderating goes, we do deal with things that we see, and that are reported, but most people don't notice it unless it happens right away. Its not that we aren't around, its that people don't see our actions right away so they assume that the problem isn't being dealt with.

The best way to "moderate" the forums in the late hours of the night or any time of day is a strong community. Like a good neighbourhood watch, the best way to keep things safe and clean is to report the bad stuff to the proper authorities. Having too many hands in on the power may not improve the qualit.By giving the existing moderators the support and information they need to do their jobs better, things will improve and people will slowly learn not to do the stupid things they often do.

The crap may fly and people may think that they are getting away with stuff late At night but long after the first light when the mods wake up (1-2pm) the post reports remain and the disembodied soul comes out to feed.

Anyone can get it really but they only really choose people who have been here for like 5 years + who are dedicated and prove themselves. I almost been here for 3, I kind of like just being a standard member.

That was sarcasm. Apoc did invent a script to block a specific user and was subsequently banned for it. Granted it seemed more of an attack on that specific user and was greeted with the usual "are you -blam!- serious?" reaction from the moderators. Still, I don't really see how the solution butane proposed is any different.

I admit I'm not familiar with that incident.

If not having to listen to someone makes a person's time here more enjoyable, I don't really see a problem with it. What would then be nice is if the function tied into a report system like we currently have that allows us to remove problems if there is a need.

That way, people who create accounts just to spam... whatever can now be ignored by people and it really wouldn't be such a big problem if there was a time gap of one of us not being on.

  • 08.09.2011 11:38 PM PDT

I don't want the position for the power. I don't even really want the power to ban members. I just -blam!- hate all the spam that clutters up these forums, and I want to be able to do what I can to get rid of it. It drives me nuts.

:O
I've never seen you post before!
OT: Yes, that's why I sometimes report via PM, because sometimes the Report Queue isn't checked, or the you guys might not see it. When I send you a link, you just click it and you're there. Seems much easier.

That's the number of bans in this thread. Next time you want to derail something, go stand in front of a train.

I notice around this time, morning for me, there is more spam coming up around the place that doesn't get dealed with for some time.

As has been said, you can't force people to be on at certain times due to their life, and the fact they are only volunteering, it's not exactly a paid job.

I would just think a few more from around the Europe area, however there would still be times where nothing gets done, that's basically inevitable...isn't it?

He'd have instantly stopped and knelt down, one fist on the ground, hoping to be impervious to the officer's attacks. When this would have failed and he's in the back of the police car, he'd blame his predicament on his friends for not being team players.

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

I don't think I can go an hour on these forums without seeing some kind of contradiction or flaw in logic; it's inevitable. Start laughing or you'll end up going crazy...

  • 08.10.2011 12:25 AM PDT

Oh my God...
I am disappointed. I really am.

There's no need to be sorry; neither I nor anyone else is mad at what you posted (At least I'm not). Sometimes it's just amusing to note these little disparities.

Just a word of advice; know what it is you want to say before you submit it. So many needless arguments occur because of people misinterpreting the things people say (because their ideas aren't clearly expressed). It will only serve to make you a better contributer and fail to give -blam!-s like me an excuse to be cynical and jaded.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

I still want that Charvet guy to be a mod.

Exact same reason for me.

On topic: These threads seem to be popping up heaps, is anything actually being done about it?

I doubt it.

Whoo.

I'd be up for being a mod, I'm on here all the time, although I have a feeling I'd be the mod that rarely bans people/locks threads, out of paranoia that I would do it incorrectly one time and be forever shamed.

Although I read somewhere that Achronos knows each of the moderators personally, so I have a feeling it's a "who you know" type deal, then again meeting some employees at PAX or something won't be that hard.

  • 08.10.2011 1:08 AM PDT

Well, me and Achronos dislike each other so I hope that's not the case. There's a theory that it is an elitist system, and that the group Bungie Jumpers is an elitist group because so many members were made Mods. I'd lock everything I felt needed to be locked.
