Roadhouse.
I have seen the powers at hand and I can honestly say I am not ready

The third book from The Dark Tower Series I came across a very familiar illustration introducing the next chapter in the book.

Just moments before I came across this image, a character was describing the main protagonist of the story and the way she described him, not the biggest, smartest, fastest, strongest but more or less just lucky enough to survive off of instinct reminded me of Master Chief. Roland was also the last of his kind.

I thought it was very interesting and wanted to share it with the community.

8/5/08 Bungie Favorites- NoEnd
7/1/09 Bungie Favorites- RECON Devil
9/9/09 Bungie Favorites- Champion
5/22/10 HaloCharts Favs- Prey

It's cool to see the artistic similarities between stories. But this one is just eerily similar.

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”
- Dawes, A little bit of everything

A fist gripping lightning could be a reference to Thor, but that's still a quite interesting find.

Well don't you know Bungie owns the universe. They incorporate halo into everyday life.

Then there are the people who poop in the mash potatoes. Those people get launched out on their asses.

Bungie is definitely stealing Mr. Kings work.

Also, I like your analogy. Have read the series, and never thought that, but I can see the correlation.

BTW, one of my favorite books/series of all time. Eat it LOTR

Huh

You know, I read this a while ago, and thought that symbol looked familiar.

Good find OP.

I also like the likeness. Now I want to go back and read!!

Wonder if the Bungie guys are fans of this at all?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

That is neat.

But if it is similar to something Bungie did, many artists and designers of many fields will look for inspiration iin other works to create their own.

Like Bungie used the concept of a ring world from another author and the idea for elites was based on predator.

There are many powers in the world, for good or for evil. Some are greater than I am. Against some I have not yet been measured. But my time is coming.

So Bungie/Halo has borrowed from Ringworld, Dark Tower, Starhammer and what else?

But Cheif WAS the biggest, strongest and fastest when he was chosen. He was playing king of the hill with the other children and was dominating them when Dr.Halsey saw him.

I'll agree that the description is oddly similar, but that type of image is common.

It's not camping, it's holding the designated location.

That symbol is also in Kinect Adventures; it's the picture you get when you beat the last level: At about 0:05 if you turn it sideways.
