Subject: Bungie and Activision

Does anyone even read these?

Activision is only the publisher of Bungie, nothing else. Bungie still calls the shots to their services.

... I'm pretty sure.

"NO MMO" ?!?

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means..."

MMO = Massive Multiplayer Online

I'm curious as to why there are so many comments saying "I wouldn't buy/play an MMO". Not just here, but all over various forums.

Every time a new Halo game has been on the horizon, the one thing EVERYONE screamed for was a BIGGER multiplayer online experience, i.e. Bigger matchmaking games with more than 8v8 capacity.

So to those of you saying "NO MMO", do you actually mean "NO MMORPG", and you're just too lazy to type 3 more letters?
Or do you actually NOT want a bigger multiplayer experience?

And so what if Bungie DOES make an MMORPG? You really think they're so lazy that they'd just make a WoW clone?

Judging from what Bungie has already innovated - starting with Halo multiplayer, continuing thru Halo2 matchmaking and culminating with things like Firefight - I think it's safe to say that if Bungie's next game has a massive online multiplayer experience, it will NOT look like anything that already exists today, even if the acronym is similar.

I don't want to see a subscription based game. I hate subscriptions, especially if I'm already paying the XBL Gold Member Fee. It feels like a chore, as if I must play the game enough during that month to get its worth.

Map Packs I am fine with. Same with most other forms of DLC. Just no subscription fee.

Probably the main reason people do this is so that they can line their pockets with even more of your money, come on, isn't millions of copies of games, worth around £40 ($60) each, enough money for developers enough. and guess who actually started the Idea of pay to play console games, none other than Bobby Kotick

I've hated the very idea of Bungie working with Activision to the core since its announcement. The worst part being that came speeding at us right after the Infinity Ward debaucle. I don't know what they offered but they sure as hell had better pay it in full when Bungie delivers. I love Bungie too much for them to get screwed over by those -Blam-tards.

don't worry, activision won't screw them over. The contract says that they can only publish Bungie's games, they don't have any say as to what goes into the game

so true. at the rate that the gaming market is evolving, WoW is slowly dying. after a while, no one wants to buy and continue to pay for a game that is nowhere near as good as other games out there. and imo, WoW isn't that good to begin with. maybe it was 5 years ago, but now it's struggling to survive with expansion pack after expansion pack

I'm sure that if Bobby Kotick actually decides to do this, it will spell CoD's death, as no one really wants to pay for an individual game more than once.

Bungie still controls their decisions, Activision just distributes the game for them.

bungie falls in to the "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY" category for me.

barring major personal financial meltdown, or a sudden change in events which puts me at odds against my wallet/time, this will remain the case.

just have to wait and see.

That's not entirely true. When people say things like this is makes it sound like Activision is publishing a mystery game they don't even know about. Activision is very much aware of what they're paying money for.

Sigh. your an idiot,
1. nobody is forcing you to buy anything

2. Bungie makes good games, and no one has ever heard them say anything along the lines of give me your money

3. bungie holds it's community very close and would never say shut up unless if the person they are saying it to is an idiot

4. Your an idiot

train hard, win big, live well.

i dont think we will see something that is exactly what call of duty has been dealing out to the fans, bu as much as it pains me to say i really think there will be some new services to pay for, and it being bungie it is probably something i am really really gonna want. but honestly that is just sort of the direction that the gaming industry is moving.

This is what I am talking about. The industry is moving towards this type of system. I think that both Bungie and Activision can benifit from this type of service. Bungie has the ability and vision to create a universe that is capable of bieng tied to all sorts of media devices and platforms while Activision has the capital(lots of money) to help build the I.T. infrastructure as well as helping to fund actual development. In no way do I think Activision will dictate to Bungie what type of games to develop and when to release games. Clearly both of these companies have the ability to start providing a subscription based service. I dont know if it will happen, I am just saying the opportunity is there.
