Subject: Do you think recent moderation history should be shown to all?

No:  59%

I am pretty sure moderators can see everyone's ban history (clarification anyone?) and I was wondering if most recent moderation history should be shown to all bungie.net users?

Kalriq has swayed my decision with his post. It should be only allowed if the user wishes to as it would enable too much judgement on the forums (end vote: No)

Note: If you voted for something other than no, the recent moderation history would be shown for a month- 2 months then disappear. It would not show who gave the ban, or the thread it was in, just what the user was banned for
Some people believe in the 'name and shame' policy, but everyone is entitled to their opinion

It would just lead to people acting more judgementally towards eachother - people could treat others differently depending on what they read.
Instead of 'you're a brigadier, your opinion is invalid' it would become 'you got banned for a month for ... you're opinion is invalid'

Not really the sort of thing I'd like to see.
But hey - people can share it now if they want - and I think it's better that way. Your moderation history is your own after all.

Yes they can. Moderators can use moderation history to help make decisions when issuing bans and warnings. As for your idea, I vote 'no' as there's just no reason for anyone else to see this history.

Exactly - if people want to, they can go ahead and tell others about it. But some people may want it to remain between them and site staff - and that is equally understandable.
It doesn't aid discussion, being able see the last time someone got banned.

"Even in death, your Sergeant guides us home."

it's a ban not an embarrassing photo of you naked, besides if you don't get bans often you shouldn't have to worry about it.

'Recent' is 4 freaking years ago for me, and it was only a warning.

It's totally useless info for non-mods.

What if it disappeared from view after two months of no bans ect? But yeah my primary opinion is the judgemental factor

  • 08.10.2011 5:22 AM PDT

I just don't see how that could benefit non-mods...

In my situation, I think it should be but that's because I am still bitter about it (it was a typo). However, I think this doesn't reflect the majority of BNet so I don't think it should be done.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

I think, rather, it would be nice if the OPs of banned users instead showed what they were banned for.

The red text of banned OPs said at the bottom, clearly visible, what they were banned for.

I think that would help.
