As it looks now, no they won't.

And you guys seriously need to stop worrying about Windows Vista. Just like everyone was using Windows98 7 years ago and just like everyone is using Windows XP now, everyone will be using Windows Vista by the end of next year.

yea seriously, IceIceBaby has the right idea. 2-3 years after the release of Vista you wont want to be using xp. Its alot more graphically enhanced so it will look "smoother" and more appealing. It will supposidly run alot nicer and more smoothly too, not to mention better for gaming.

Vista is the new evolution of windows, which takes the concept of 'windows' further by using a lot of neat little tricks and a new file structure which i would run out of characters trying to explain. google it, my friend.

from what i hear, the betas [of which i have 1 :) ] are all 32-bit, but the final product will only be compatible with 64-bit processors.

with the vast, vast majority of PC's out there running old faithful 32's, it would make much more sense to program their next PC Halo attempt to be 32-bit with 64-bit and Vista optimizations.

Or if you wish to live in the stone age and continue using XP, then by all means you are welcome to help me work on my Halo 2 Singleplayer mod for CE.

Hte point is that most of the poeple is using XP, and they will not spend on the new windows Vista until they buy a new computer, so ¿why dont make the game compatible for xp and later for vist when more people has it?

Vista will be both 32 and 64 bit compatable. Vista isn't completely backwards compatable, there are alot of things that can be done on vista that can't be done on XP, and vice versa. They said they picked vista because it allowed for new and better things to happen. THings that aren't possible on XP. They will not make an xp version, and I think everyone who says they should make it for XP has not researched/understand what vista is, and what it means.

Moneysoft's New Windows Vi$ita!

w00t. Glad my computer's got 64-bit architecture, then.

As compared to Mac, though, who releases a new OS every few years or so, Moneysoft lets their OS sit for the next few years the way XP had to. Sometimes, I think that Windows "did away" with the old OS nomenclature of naming it by release year (Windows 95 released in 95, Windows 98 released in 98, etc) just so that consumers wouldn't notice that, gee golly, it's been more than 4 years years since they released XP, isn't it time for change?

Amen.

I personally liked Windows 2000 the best. I absolutely hate Windows XP, but I loved 2000! If you look at some screen shots of Vista, it's basically XP with a new skin that can probably already found for Style XP, a program that lets you change the skin completely on Windows.

thats because it requires just about no resources to run. its pretty obvious that it would run fast.

but run stably, have the features and possible functions that XP has? that windows 98 cannot do.

if youve actually USED vista, youd know that this is the farthest thing from the truth, and vista is entirely new, and has so many new features that even I, a seasoned windows user, was lost for an hour or two trying to figure things out.

Anyone saying that Windows 98 was stable is out of their mind. It even crashed when Bill was giving the first press demo. There didn't pass one week without having at least 3 OS lock-ups. Of course I do a bit more with my computer than the average user does, but the same counts for XP and that doesn't crash.

Because it runs faster doesn't mean that it's stable. Hell, Dos 6.22 is lightning fast, does that mean it's better than XP?
