Do you think Bornstellar will die at the end of the Forerunner Saga?

I've read a lot of Greg Bear's books, and from the ones I've read, it seems that the main characters survive at the end of most of them, and when they do die their story usually continues inside some crazy new universe or afterlife.

If all the Forerunners disappear or get wiped out by the Halos, then I'm really interested to see what Greg Bear does with Bornstellar in the end. What do you think?

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

You mean does the Didact die?

I believe somwhere it said the forerunners, or at least a number of them moved out of the galaxy in shame of what they had to do. It is possible the didact went with them. Considering the extremely long lifespan of the forerunners and devices such as cryptum the didact could infact be alive. If the didact activated the halo array on a halo ring then he is dead. If on the ark then he'd could be alive.

I do. He became Didact, and the Terminals made it pretty damn clear to me that all the Forerunners died when the Halos were fired.

Well, he wrote the book....

Unless he's living in some weird, alternate world like you said. Or, more simply, another galaxy.

I know you said they made it clear to you, but all they made clear was that the Forerunners started on their Great Journey. What that means is up in the air right now. I suspect (hope) that is discussed in Primordium or its sequel.

I've heard contradicting information on this matter - from 343 GS we hear that the Forerunners died, or at least a number of them, but other sources say that the Forerunners left the galaxy.

Pretty sure that's one of the many mysteries that the next 2 forerunner books, as well as halo 4-6 are going to explore.

In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

It's both. Most of the Forerunner civilization died after the activation of the Halo Array. Any remaining Forerunners left the Galaxy. Chances are, they are all dead by now.

"Compartmentalisation - in case I was ever captured by the Flood."

Spark is not going to be told that his Makers are going to move out of the Orion Arm, were the Flood ever to return that would risk exposing their survival.

OT: It all depends on whether the Didact died (because Bornstellar is now the Didact). Some parts of the Terminals instill doubt in me that the end of his journey was the activation of the Array.
