How does it work - and no I don't want to know about how it sends monkeys carrying messages to Achronos' lair.

Does one report send something to the report que? If not, how many?
I'm sure people have also noticed, that if you report something, then leave the thread and maybe return later - it's possible to report the same thing again.

Does this count as another report, to bring attention to it faster, with a stacking effect - or is it ignored?

Ya know, I'm not quite sure.

No, the reports don't stack for obvious reasons (I'm pretty sure they don't anyway) other wise the logs would just be jam packed.

All reports get to a moderator eventually, its just a matter of which moderator is online and when they see it.

  • 08.11.2011 4:39 AM PDT

Does anyone even read these?

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with monkeys and Achronos' lair...

When a post receives enough reports (don't know how many but I think it's a fixed value), the post collapses. When a post receives enough reports to collapse that post is sent to the report queue for moderators to check.

You can't report the same post twice. Well, you can, but the second report does nothing.

When you report someone, I believe it goes onto a list or queue. I am not sure how many it requires (probably not a lot).
It is quite interesting to think about. But I think we would only receive the true details if/when we become moderators

Correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe every post goes to the queue.

And then ones which are reported slowly move up the queue?

  • 08.11.2011 4:43 AM PDT

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

Well since you don't wish to hear the truth, which is much more interesting because it involves monkeys, I guess I can lie to you.

The exact working of the report button is unknown. We do know it takes more than one report, the exact number is however unknown. When that number is reached though, a report is sent to a queue that the moderators can see for review.

I don't think reporting more than once on your own does anything, but I abusing the report button can get you banned.

Only when it collapses.

I remember a mod saying this sometime ago, I'll see if I can talk to one right now and confirm.

Edit:

Ok, Old Papa Rich doesn't actually fully know but says it seems logical to work that way. :P

Okay. I always thought every post was sent to the queue for moderation and ones that get multiple reports will be moved to a 'high priority' queue. But, I'm not sure.

They'd have to snatch a lot more off the street to moderate if that's how the system worked.

It's possible but mods always complain about how the report queue is empty, and judging by how many users there are on this site that would fill it up a damn heap.

It just seems more logical for it to go into the report queue after receiving many reports and then collapsing.

^ Spector Wolf summed it up nicely.

Is there a limit to the 'length' of the ban list? or does it just keep compiling?

You mean report queue? I assume it keeps on compiling.

Incorrect. Some people know and simple testing is all that's needed to make the discovery yourself. Not that you should try.

I kinda figured it'd be as easy as that, but I'd rather not have another needless ban added to my list.

The Gunman Division: Ace Gunman, xOmega Gunmanx, JT Gunman, xLost Gunmanx, (Op) Lone Gunman, Spade Gunman, Viper Gunman, Ysuran Gunman, BlindfireGunman, Angel, briskit1, dinjitsu2222, and Onobono. No idiots, please!

When a post is reported, nothing happens initially. After 5 (or 6 , can't remember) reports, the post is collapsed and added to the moderation queue for a ninja to deal with.

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

The Black Chapter!

Just to chip in a nugget, I recall it being said that different forums have different report requirements.

After a certain number of reports it is added to the report queue, which the moderators can view.

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

1) They will not tell us

2) I believe those do count.
