I'm confused about the halo 3 legendary ending, you see Chief in a Cryo tank on a half of a frigate flying towards a planet and the Halo 4 trailer he wakes and crashes on the forerunner planet
(this is noobish isn't it)

We are timeless, bound as one, we cannot be silenced, as our song lingers on.

Are you talking about your post being noobish or the actual ending?

Bungie didn't want to end the Halo storyline as they could make a killing from selling the rights to it as they no longer want them anymore.

I think its 'Noobish' because it only appears in the Legendary Ending, if games want to directly introduce sequels you have to make sure everyone sees it.

I'm not sure if that was their intention all along but still ...

I have a theory on what the new ancient enemy in Halo 4 is. You assuming that this planet is of Forerunner origin is not completely wrong, as I think that the mytserious planet is an Installation that predates even the Forerunners, so the beings that made/colonized the planet would be the Forerunners to the Forerunners! Hear my out on why I think this.

1. There is no way that the new enemy in Halo 4 could be Covenant Loyalists or Elites, because neither are "ancient threats" as the Halo 4 wallpaper states.

2. Most, if not all, of the Forerunners were obliterated when the Halos fired, so it is highly unlikely that they are ancient threat.

3. I doubt that 343 would revive the Flood after the events in Halo 3, as the Gravemind was killed less than 2 years before Halo 4, and so a Proto-Gravemind must be developed and lead the Flood, which I doubt would take less than 2 years.

4. I am very surprised that no one has even hinted at the ancient enemy being the Precursors! We know close to nothing about them so this new trilogy, along with the Forerunner series, would be an opportune time to reveal more about them.

They sold the rights before Halo CE. They did it to keep us interested so Microsoft could make a killing. All Bungie got was a bigger fanbase.

Stating the obvious, but true.

2. Most, if not all, of the Forerunners were obliterated when the Halos fired, so it is highly unlikely that they are ancient threat.

The Forerunners were not obliterated. The reason they're not around anymore is because they left the Orion Arm after reseeding life.

3. I doubt that 343 would revive the Flood after the events in Halo 3, as the Gravemind was killed less than 2 years before Halo 4, and so a Proto-Gravemind must be developed and lead the Flood, which I doubt would take less than 2 years.

Gravemind is not dead. He states that defeat is simply the addition to time before he returns, since it is astoundingly obvious that he is the Timeless One from the Forerunner Trilogy and has managed to survive the activation of the Halos twice he may well be making a return.

4. I am very surprised that no one has even hinted at the ancient enemy being the Precursors! We know close to nothing about them so this new trilogy, along with the Forerunner series, would be an opportune time to reveal more about them.

Er... the Precursors have been mentioned as soon as the "ancient evil" thing was said. You really expect that the community in the Halo 3 forum even know what a Precursor is?

you obviously have not played any other halo games or maybe you forgot so let me help refresh your memory..

bungie has had legendary endings in all of the halo games, it's a tradition for them to do that and i think it's a great idea because it rewards the players who like a challenge in the end
