I think you took the wrong approach, OP.

Don't be too disappointed or anything, though, even if you'd been the slickest guy ever they probably wouldn't have given you a tour.

I wouldn't consider myself "slick", but it certainly helps to make friends ahead of time and give them some notice.

I got a tour of their lobby when they were in Kirkland, and made friends with Urk.
Then I happened to be on a business trip in Washington after they moved to Bellevue, so I politely asked if I could stop by and see their new lobby, to which he kindly obliged.

And as a bonus; that night I went to the Seattle Symphony and met Marty O'Donnell!!

Don't believe any of it? Click the links and see for yourself:

You just gotta play it slow and cool, and understand that the most you can hope for is a quick walk around the lobby.

That's pretty cool. I was there at the Seattle Symphony that night too! Met the guys who arranged and handled the symphony as well. I was a bit underwhelmed by the Sonic segment, but the Halo segment was amazing. You video was a little quiet/awkward at parts, but I got the general picture ;)

Regarding making friends with Bungie guys in advance: that's not really what it's about. It's more about asking nicely in advance, and respecting when invitations can be offered, and when they can't be. It's essentially gotta be the right timing and the right reason.

I've personally been invited to Bungie's studio in Bellevue 3 times now, all good timing and all in good company. But most importantly all in good intentions and trust.

It's extremely cool to be there, but unless you happen to be supremely lucky (with a combination of the things I mentioned above), you won't see very much other than what's already dotted around the internet. And with Bungie kicking into overdrive with their new game, I don't see very many invitations being extended to the Community for a little while. Maybe at PAX this year, but I'm skeptical about that.

Just showing up doesn't cut it, like the OP showed, but like Midnight did, and asking about it in advance, is the best chance you'll ever get. Means they can arrange it on their own time, rather than on yours.

Now I'm wondering what the original topic of this thread was.

The OST for ODST!

Bungie should just open up a video game store in their lobby and like Recon said a coffee shop. :P

Everything in the shop could have a Bungie-themed name! Cortana coffee, Marathon Moca, Blam!banana milkshake, BR brownie, etc.

I dont know exactly what to call it, but it has something to do with spaggetti, duct tape and razor blades...

I think it is located at 434 Kirkland Avenue.

Next to the Pancake House? Not any more.

Mmmmmm, Dutch Babies sprinkled with powdered sugar.
I'm really hoping that "Dutch babies" are some kind of food I've never heard of before . . .

I agree; Sonic left much to be desired. Cool that you got to sit "with" Marty. :) I was over in the left-front orchestra section. I was also in the meet-n-greet line, I feel like I may have seen you standing there...

BINGO. I've certainly been extremely lucky with my timing, but both times it was right near game-ship-time or new-game-kickoff-time, which aren't exactly when you'd expect to get past the lobby, so I'm not complainin'! :D

My comment about "making friends" is really more about letting them get to know you, and showing them you're not there to be a jerk.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I think maybe on certain days Bungie should let people come in their lobby.

Or, Bungie should have a Bungiecon.

He broke one or more of the forum rules, and was punished by a moderator. It's really none of our business.
