As to the guys who didn't say anything, I'm sure if it was urk or Achronos (or other public figures of Bungie), they would have said something. Not everyone's as outgoing as they are, you know.
For any company that is developing things that need to be kept hidden from the public, even allowing someone into the lobby is a security hassle. Even for companies like RIM, which I've worked for, that are terrible at keeping things secret, security is still a huge deal. For a company like Bungie that is successful at keeping things secret, I'd imagine that security is even tighter.
