If I buy 2 large pizzas will you guys let me in? I am desperate :(
I hope this is just a tongue-in-cheek joke and you're not ACTUALLY desperate. It's not like Willy Wonka's chocolate factory in there or something. There are no Oompa Loompas; it's an office, albeit full of people who do exceptionally cool stuff.

Even community members who have been invited to Bungie in the past don't ever get past the lobby/contract tester area anyway. And there have STILL been a couple of leaks from loose-lipped community members, even after they signed non-disclosure agreements!

You can bet that right now, with a secret new title in the works, Bungie is bound to be even more security-conscious. If you want to meet Bungie folks, come hang out with the community at PAX in two weeks. You'll definitely get a chance to talk to a few of them in a much more relaxed environment where you're not "treading on their turf," so to speak.

I thought PAX was invite-only?
Penny Arcade Expo isn't invite only. You can buy passes [or could have] and hang out with a ton of cool gamers/meet developers.

Hello! I'm Bunie.net's resident medical student (hell i'm sure there are more but I'm the only one who openly declares it!) I love my emblem, and I am periodically active.
I have a Twitter

If you walked up to someone's workplace and demanded a tour would they think you were crazy? yes!

Its not rude at all :')

Do you think they will let me in? I live in Bellevue, and I might just walk there today. It is at the Bellevue Galleria right?

What address? Can someone post a pic?

Edit: Employees!! What can I buy you guys to get a tour??

EDIT2: JUST GOT BACK!

Well, I didn't even get in the lobby actually. I walked up with a friend, found their studio. I looked into the window, and it is a very nice lobby. No security guards outside at all. So I went and pulled on the door, which was locked.

Dissapointed, I started walking back. I saw 3 bungie employees, and asked "HEY! Do you guys work for Bungie??". One of them nodded his head and just kept walking to the door. I said "Could me and my friend please get a tour?" He just shook his head and walked into the building.

Basically, he barely acknowledged me. Which, IMO, was pretty rude. He could have at least flat out said "sorry, we are not allowed to give tours", instead of being kind of rude.

So I left disapointed.

Don't get upset OP.

They probably just have the stuff for their new I.P/Univers spread out all over the office and computers, so they declined to say anything as well as declined a tour in order to protect the srcrecy surrounding Project: Destiny.

It's not you, they are just protecting their new Universe do nothing gets possibly leaked ahead of time.

And while they most likely know that you'd never do such a thing, they still have to be extremely careful.

This is a competitive industry, and secrets about a new game are protected better than Department of Defense secrets.

Great Scott!

OP, you're gonna go far kid. Don't put up a white flag and give up. Keep going at the studio like a seven nation army. Just don't stop believing.

But seriously, not to sound mean, but I would have done the same as those employees. Especially if a random stranger asked. That and I'd think it isn't really their position to let you in anyway. Plus they're working on their new game. So even if you did get in, they probably wouldn't let you past the waiting area. Just be glad you didn't meet Jerome.

He's 15. And you saying he sounds 12 doesn't make you sound more mature.

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

I can probably relate to that employee. I use to work for eBay and regretted each time I would run errands before or after work and forget that my security badge was around my neck. It was like a bright neon sign that read "ask me all your questions!"

Eventually you just learn to use as few words possible as to hopefully leave as little room as possible for a conversation to spark. Body gestures like head nods or even simple "Mhmm" or "yep". I imagine it's something similar.

15, eh? That explains much.

Thanks for your assessment of my "maturity", by the way.

I don't think they wanted you to get even a possibility of a glimspe at their new project.

"Sometimes life gives you lemons, and then you have to say 'f**k the lemons' and bail."

If you're reading this, you need to stop stalking me. If you can't stop stalking me, you might as well go here.

What did you expect, OP?

I imagine they get enough random fans that wander up to their doors and ask the same question that they're probably a bit jaded by the idea. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me if it's company policy to go about that situation in the way they did, to avoid setting precedent.

Not to mention, there would be the task of not only having each visitor signing a non-disclosure agreement, but adhering to it. There's the chance that some people may not understand/care about violating such an contractual agreement, especially minors, whose signature I believe aren't technically legally binding.

Long story short: it's a private business, they have work to do, and they can't just assume that any ol' person who shows up at their doorstep isn't going to blab around town about what they might have seen and/or disrupt workflow while inside.

Why would they let you in?

  • 08.12.2011 6:05 AM PDT

They didnt want you to see the giant catapult they were working on to complete step 7

  • 08.12.2011 6:18 AM PDT

They were hardly rude, they have said on multiple occasions they do not offer tours.

So I left disapointed.

Why would you possibly leave disappointed? That would imply having high hopes to begin with, which is absurd considering the situation. Bungie's working on a new, completely unnannounced project right now; common sense should dictate that you have no chance in hell of getting a tour.

You know thats right LOL Im sure Bungie uses retina scanners and -blam!- probes* for all employees any time they enter the building just to be safe

*Bungie and all affiliates express no guarantees on the safety or long term effects from exposing self to said probes

Bungie has always stated they don't let visitors in.

Only very rarely do they entertain guests, and even then only a fraction of them aren't invited.

Frankely, I would have just been happy to see them outside, I would have said hi, maybe talk a bit if they wanted to, then go on my way, jerome normally would prevent even that.

If I were a bungie emyployee in that situation, I probably would have done the same. Say no, you can not come in. I probably would have still talked a bit, explain why not, maybe be a bit more friendly, etc. Maybe offer to sign something.

Maybe one day bungie will hose a open office day to the public or something, who knows?

I'm just here to check the meters.

Dude don't take it personally because they didn't mean it to be rude. They can't just let people in because they're constantly working on new projects and letting random people in off the street could cause things to be seen. Also Bungie wants their games to be top notch and if the developers are constantly getting bothered with tours through the studio then it will affect the quality of the games.
Trust me,I'm a HUGE Bungie fan and would love nothing more than to meet the staff and see the studio but it just isn't possible.

  • 08.12.2011 10:10 AM PDT

I'm just here to check the meters.

OP what you should have done is say something like 'Hey I enjoy the games and appreciate the work you guys do."
They might have invited you to see the lobby that way and atleast you could have gotten a foot in the door. You should not have just dove right in with "Can I get a tour of the studio?"

  • 08.12.2011 10:13 AM PDT

I'm surprised you got a sneak peek at the lobby...

I was in Seattle a couple weeks ago. Thinking it would be a good idea, I looked up Bungie HQ in Bellevue on my GPS. I traveled to the location and, to my surprise, it wasn't there.

Turns out my GPS was too outdated to know the new location of Bungie Studios. Oh well, I checked out the entire area around it though. They've got some great food, scenery, and small little beach area right down the street as well.
