Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

Though I am liking the idea of a Bungie-themed coffee shop chilled-arcade in the same Galleria. Maybe not with direct line-of-site to the studio, but a place for fans (of Bungie, of coffee, of a cool place to chill) to hang out.

Bungie staff would get free coffee (always) as a way to gently encourage them to visit and meet with the (hopefully) pleasant and polite fans.

Guests/Pilgrims could enjoy beverages, snacks, WiFi and maybe even a couple of couches/alcoves with LAN capabilities for some Halo/Marathon/Oni carnage (have to be free to get around that "no pay for play" license restriction).

But that could be a decent business model, provided the clientele were capable of being cool and polite if/when an employee dropped by.

I'm just here to check the meters.

oh my gawd recon. could you imagine everytime a bungie employee walked in it would be like flies on -blam!-. he would be jumped all over by fans grilling him for information.

You might be surprised. My visits to PAX and E3 have impressed me that a good percentage of this community aren't utter jerks and tend to show a decent amount of courtesy and respect for personal space when it comes to meeting/encountering/chatting with folks from Bungie. Sure, some geek out (I confess, the first time I met Marty, I was a COMPLETE geekfest. But he was utterly cool, incredibly gracious, and in a word "classy").

Anyone who would create a disruption in this hypothetical establishment would be asked to leave.

The idea would be a welcoming place for fans and staff. Where everyone is there simply to relax, sip a beverage, make a friend who they've never met, and be excellent to each other.

I'm surprised you got a sneak peek at the lobby...

I was in Seattle a couple weeks ago. Thinking it would be a good idea, I looked up Bungie HQ in Bellevue on my GPS. I traveled to the location and, to my surprise, it wasn't there.

Turns out my GPS was too outdated to know the new location of Bungie Studios. Oh well, I checked out the entire area around it though. They've got some great food, scenery, and small little beach area right down the street as well.

Might I ask what food places you went too?

Also, Bungie's place is on the second floor of the Bellevue Galleria. It isn't just a building by itself. Did you walk up to the second floor?
Like I said, I didn't even get to the actual building where Bungie is located now.

By "great food", I meant the little food carts by the beach area.

The B-Bar? If someone can shop B-Bar into the same style as the Bungie logo then we're set.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

How far themed would you go?

A lot of places name beverages and meals after a theme, or choose foreign, sophisticated-sounding names. Do you think this would be present (theoretically, in your opinion).

Personally, I hate "hyper-themeing" everything. If I went to this coffee shop, it would be to enjoy the experience, not be smothered by Bungie.

And the most important question. What would you call it? My vote is for "The Tru7h and Reconciliation" or "The Library."

This really should get seen by Bungie. It would be so epic to meet Joseph Staten and here his grunt voice.

But that is the sort of thing that would either get a customer asked to leave, or that would keep Staten away.

I don't know for certain, but I would imagine that he's probably had more than a few thousand people ask him "please do the grunt voice!" to which he probably patiently sighs, takes a deep breath and says something about a food nipple.

But the good folks at Bungie aren't performers. They are artists, but it would be presumptuous to assume that they would visit someplace for a cup of joe (no staten pun intended) and a few minutes in a comfy chair and then be constantly asked to "do that thing!" by strangers as if they were trained sea lions.

They love their work, they are passionate about their work, but it isn't ALL that they are. For example, think about your job or what your parents do. They probably are interested and good at what they do. They might enjoy talking about something related to their field with someone else who shares interest and involvement in that field, but other times they just want to NOT talk/think about work.

Does that make sense? I am trying to explain that they aren't there for us, we should be there for them.

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

That sounds AWESOME. Somebody should do that, then make another one in Front Royal, Virginia.

Oh I see. Did you stop by Dick's burgers in Seattle? They have the greatest burgers and fries!
That's makes two people who have told me to eat at Dick's. Sadly, I never got the chance to go.

I totally understand. Well maybe my friend can be there for him and show him HIS grunt voice. It is awesome haha. xD

And I only want to hear his grunt voice because I am a huge fan of Bungie and Halo. Like I said Halo/Bungie has been apart of over half of my life. But I respect the employees, and if I shouldn't ask, I wouldn't.
Man, if you want to hear a grunt voice why not just hop on halo? I understand the thrill of seeing things in person.. but Bungie isn't a daycare. You said earlier you were 15 years old. I understand a portion of the fanbase is in their younger teens, but that doesn't mean they should do tricks for you if you so happen to come knocking on their door.

a open office day to the public or something, who knows?

It's very unrealistic.

Such an event would take weeks to prepare for, be a huge drain to go through, and then weeks to recover from. All of that interruption to their actual work? Huge cost in dollars and man hours.

And just imagine that damage that one unscrupulous "fan" with a thumb drive or a phone cam could do.

There's a reason that place is locked up like Cheyenne Mountain. They aren't setup to be like a gaming Knott's Berry Farms.
