Just have to say they are all fantastic ideas. only one thing...if the original pistol is returned, it should look the same (better graphics of course) and still be the same...it was great...but other wise that was awsome i comend you and those who help you come up with the ideas!

Question: Why would you have the old Halo 1 pistol not have a scope and not have the ability to make headshots? The pistol was my favorite weapon till they made the maginums (sp?), The only good thing you could do with them were duel wield.

If you want to see the MC die, play Legendary. If you want to see MC finish the fight, play Halo 3. If you want to see MC finish the fight by dieing, why did you waste six years when you could have done it yourself right now?

What the hell? I made this months ago! Someone must have bumped it. Anyways, these are outdated ideas. I have made two new versions since then. The latest one is in my sig but you have to join Popular Fusion to read it first. Join, it's the best chapter I've been in. It's never boring, it's growing faster then you can say HIH, and it's got the best hookups into Bungie ever. Sick of the Halo 3 forum? Want to have your opinion really heard? Then you'll know what's best for you and you'll join that group.

i agreed with one of your ideas. all the other made halo too complicated and unbalanced the game.

Come on here, this is really a list of things you're sick of having people use to beat you in Match Making and this is your way of whining about it because you can't get the stuff first and the remaining stuff that makes sence you got off of other posts. So please give credit where credit is due, most of these aren't new ideas or even your own ideas. We've been saying some of this stuff since two months after Halo 2 came out and the novelty of the game wore off and we realized that the game had been rushed through production and there were things in the story that were missing or greatly lacking. In terms of balance, Halo 2 was done the way Bungie intended it to. Sure, there were some things that could have made it much better but the fact still remains that you play the game. No offence or anything but some of these ideas are truly bad. Having to spend extra time picking up ammo and weapons off a person's dead body would slow the game down way to much and make it alot less tense. My guess is that you're sick of having your rocket launcher or sword stolen when you get killed and you want a chance to get to it before somebody else does, that's nice and all but why not get it back the old school way, like oh, say, killing the guy who took it? I have much more I could say about your lacking thought process but that would be pointless so here's my advice to you, GET A LIFE! If you have enough time to sit down and work out all the calculations for weapons and so forth then you obviously still live at home with mommy and daddy or you are in no way productive to society.

Have a nice day

I don't agree with much of this at all. I think it would absolutely kill the feel of Halo. I especially don't like the showing all you are carrying and having essentially to 'loot' enemy corpses. Alternative fire? bleh.

I would absolutely despise pretty much any of these ideas being put in.

Everything you said about grenades would totally kill Halo so much, I think I would rather play Halo 2 than 3.

GT=ChiloPilo

make the switch weapon animation longer?
i dont know about you, but i dont want to watch my guy holster his gun, and then take out his secondary, while you get pumped up with smg rounds.
i'm no sword whore, but there is no feeling like pressing y, lunging at a guy, and putting the sword away before they even see the blue flash.

like Phaton said, you're just sick of getting pwned.

It's not one of those hide and hit and hide games. So many of these mechanics would absolutely destroy everything that made Halo into Halo.

I would not buy Halo 3 if the balances were down by banshee boy. Your making the game soooooo boring. You walk slower when you have a sniper. NO! we want to keep intestity up. That slows everything down and makes it boring.

The only thing i differ from him on is the MA5B, i would make it almost exactly like in Halo 1, maybe with a modacum more of power. i would change the accuracy to be slightly better then we remember it, but my major change would be to make it a heavy weapon. By only changing it slightly in power would make my changes drastic in a way.

The idea would be to make it a S.A.W.-type weapon. if you dont know what that is, it is a light machine gun, no more powerful than a support weapon, but able to throw out some serious lead. Perhaps this would have to be a whole different version (the MA7B2 L.M.G.). but by adding some ammo and a lot of weight the efficiency would be taken down a notch, mostly because panning speed would be considerably slower. The need for an abundance of human weapons on Earth is obvious, and this would lend considerably to a more squad based multiplayer where people do not wander off on their own to get weapons lost and themselves killed, by making changes to the BR as suggested by the above genius, there would be a need for untity among team members, leaving only the sniper with the choice of lone-wolf independance

here are my two cents:
full animation weapon switching is a bad choice. all that will do is make halo 3 seem like ghost recon where if you are reloading and see someone you are dead... it would take to much time to put a gun away and pull another one out, expecially seeing it only takes about 2-3 seconds to kill someone from a fair range, and probably 3 seconds to reload... which means anyone reloading is a sitting duck..
As for movement in scope, characters already do move slower in scope.. for example start up split screen and have one person move scoped and one without, see whos faster.
Dual reload being the same speed as normal reload throws balance off quite a bit. If you have one smg and someone else has two, your only chance at winning is living through the firefight til the reload, in which you can shoot before them, helping the single smg'd person in the fact of they have less firepower in general, and need an advantage.
In reference to Dual Melee - with no intention of flaming this is one of the dumbest ideas i have ever heard. this throws off balance almost as much as dual reload speed. not only can they shoot twice as fast, reload same speed, but also have 1 hit beat downs? there is practically no way someone respawning with one smg has a chance a killing anyone.
Now for sword melee...- if you are taking away the lunge from the sword but making it a one hit kill there is absolutely no benefit of having it, considering a dual wield melee in your game would also be a one hit kill.. so you could be getting shot at and run at them to hit them but they could easily beat you down.
the only other thing i didnt like was the rocket launcher splash damage where a hit directly under your feet only takes away half damage.. assuming that you would never hit directly under the feet and they are usually a fair distance away when they explode, this would mean probably 3 shots to kill someone with a rocket... how is that balanced, you have a better chance killing the rocket guy with dual smg's.

although i only said things i didnt like about your post, i did find it interesting and thought it was cool you put this much thought into ways to improve the next project... i also liked most of the other stuff in the post. but those are just my 2 cents.

Some interesting ideas there. I have a few concerns though. The reduction of the BR's could make it a pretty worthless weapon if the damage is decreased. I would say just decrease the damage (and maybe the speed between bursts) but keep the accuracy. Secondly about your suggestion with a grenade launcher attached to the MA5B, I'm also a Socom vet and I can tell you it will be over powered. If its just a frag grenade being loaded then all you would have to do is pop a nade in the general direction of your enemy and if he doesnt die its just a few shots till he drops.

I must say you ideas are probably some of the best on this fourm considering all the other posts just over-analize the trailer or take a poll on something that bungie probably wont listen to. good job. :)

SPeaking as someonw who just read the original posts of this thread, I congradulate you, writer in taking the time to develop such a system. My suggestion would be, concerning all explosives, that when a grenade or rocket or otherwise explosive projectile hits a player, that charectar is thrown a distance and knocked off their feet. The player's screen would become disoriented, leading to worse aim, a blurry screen, slow movement, ect. The player would then slowly regain 'consciencness' (sp) and would resume normal play. A good example is call of duty 2 BR1 when a mortar round lands near your position. Also, when a player is hit by this rocket, they should be thrown against walls and recieve further 'slam' damage on top of rocket damage. This could mean that if their was, say, a jutting rock in bloodgulch and someone is hit by a rocket, they are thrown against it and potentially get spliced against it. Also, dead players body's cold serve as projectiles or at least have weight and mass to them. Ifg a grenade is thrown into a pile of body's, and one hit a nearby player, the player could be knocked off his feet and even possibly damaged. This could result in a much, much more realistic game. Also, with a casual weekend player's perspective, who wouldn't get a chuckle seeing their rocket splat someone right against a wall or seeing a dead body knock over a unsuspecting noob? i do not, howver, promote dismemberment.... that seems to be going a little TOO realistic. nonetheless, writer, please post on this idea... perhaps it has already been posted?

Excellent work on your attributes system,
K2

i know ur trying to "balance" the game, but this is no ghost recon or rainbow six. Halo 2 is supposed to be FUN not realism. Play ghost recon not halo, theyre not gonna make these changes. All bungie needs to do is tone down the plasma pistol and other powerful weapons. Or make TS with MLG gameplay with radar.

I would also like to add that bansheeownz has no life to make all this bull. Who cares about this man get a life it's not coming out until next year so until then play halo 2 or shut up.

I've been thinking of balancing ideas for a long time, but from what I've seen the ideas you want to incorporate would make the game less balanced. For instance, increasing reload time for weapons while dualing would overpower the increased stopping power held by dualing in the first place. Also replacing auto aim with an easier to kill with tracking head aim is counter productive, and will make receiving head shots too easy. Good try though. I admire the compassion to try and improve a great game, but try to remember the reasons some of these ideas were never placed in the first game.

For all you that finished reading and posted, read the first post again. I agree this would suck. I don't know what was going through my head at the time, but I've made a real system since then.

Read the edit on the first page.
