Any chance of revisiting the Marathon franchise after Halo 2?

I have a feeling that that is doubtful. It's not really Bungie's style - I think they'd prefer to try something new. And anyway, why would you tamper with the greatest game series ever? I don't care if there is no bump-mapping or 3d models (but Aleph 1 is working on it!!), it's still better than any other game that will ever be made. Now if only I could work out how to get OS X to recognise that it's actually an application...

I don't think it would be a good idea to release a marathon addition any time after Halo 2, because SO many people will still be playing it. If they do revisit it, then it would be at least 2 years till they do, because it would'nt sell very well with Halo 2 already out.

A project which tied the marathon games together with the halos would be keen. Shadowy connections are already there, they just need to build off of them. Don't do remakes though, remakes are for losers and musical fans.

Don't think so... even if they did it wouldn't be for a couple of years atleast.

bah

I would buy a remake of Marathon for PC if the graphics were beefed up a bit. They wouldn't need to be that good, but right now, they are so outdated. (I've seen the graphics.)

I hate musicals, so are you calling me a looser?

Those shadowy connections are mainly just little tips of the hat to Grandpa Marathon. Although I and others have come up with several out-there theories linking the two stories, Bungie has said several times that the stories take place in completely different universes, and they are completely unrelated except for a few little elements here and there, like the idea of having AIs to help you, and the Marathon logo's not-so-discrete placement here and there in Halo, so there is no chance of a game to tie the series together.

But I hope that we are given tools to mod Halo 2 to remake Marathon levels!

I think Bungie actually has better things to do than remake their old games with new graphics, like making new games. Just cos you missed the boat and are refusing to jump on it (ooh nice continuation of the metaphor Reig!) because of issues with the graphics, Bungie isn't going to put effort into remaking Marathon.

Seriously, get over your graphics snobbery and just play the damn game. It's in my opinion more fun than Halo, and the story is about 10.7683 times better. Except for some levels. Like Colony Ship For Sale, Cheap! *shudder at annoying switch thingies*. And G4 Sunbathing. *shudder again at confusing vacuum level*

Now Marathon 2. THAT was a fun game. There were no bad levels in that. Unlike in M∞ with Acme Station. *shudder convulsively at very hard level*

I should put a jacket on or something.

Yes...

But seriously, remakes only come out when you've run out of ideas. Just look at the film industry. Starsky and Hutch, Dawn of the Dead... the list goes on.
