This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

He is. He is in all the Halo games. But the wierd thing is that he is both a marine and an ODST in the games.

But I belive wikipedia says he's an ODST seargent.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

He is the god of the Halo universe, he pops in and out of existence and goes with the wind.

I agree, i'm doubting his canon status too.

I mean didn't he appeared in Halo 3 ODST when he was supposed to be in the in amber clad.

He was in the army in Reach

So yea i think he really is non canon, same with Chips Dubbo

hi

When was he in ODST?

  • 08.12.2011 9:56 AM PDT

Welcome to bungie, you have no rights. play nice!
CLICK!

Canon, I'd say. Any aperance in ODST should be taken as easter eggs, or someone who relly looked like them in my opinion.

Stacker definitely exists within the game universe to say the least considering that his squad becomes the center of attention for a short film back during the Halo 2 games. Not to mention getting official recognition with a named credit at the end of each game rather than just "Marine "x". There's also the whole having a firefight voice as well. All of it lends to the character having an established presence within the game's story as, at the very least, a minor character with recurring significance.

He's an ODST in all the games. It's pretty much been established since Halo 2 with Another Day at The Beach. Don't forget that ODSTs, despite their specialization, are still Marines too regardless of the uniform.Whatever BDU Stacker wears is ultimately inconsequential as uniforms and equipment can be switched up whenever necessary to the environment and situation at hand which was the explanation given for uniform switches for the Autumn crew in Halo CE.

Aso since this will be inevitably brought up. Keep in mind that, despite lending his voices to some characters in ODST, Sgt Stacker is not present in Halo 3:ODST. Instead Stacker (the actor) is using the same voice he used for the Sgt Stacker character to voice an unnamed Colonel character in Uplift Reserve and a Mombasa Police Officer inside the ONI Alpha Site with miscellaneous bits here and there.

He voiced the police Sergeant.

As a voice, he's appeared in every Bungie Halo game.

I think he probably has the same sort of status Johnson did in Combat Evolved, he's a canon character, but not all of his appearances in the many different places he's in are canon.

There's plenty of indication he's a canon character, though the line between just a random gameplay appearance and a canon appearance is probably rather blurred.

Agreed.
I think he got the status that Johnson first had before he got so popular and was promoted to a lead character.
And his status at first was to have the invincible joking sarge who pops up all over the place (even if he has been killed before).

Canon-wise he does exsist I guess, but I would say you can consider 90% of his persona as non-canon. Basically he as a character I would consider canon, but his appearances as an elaborate joke.

I DO have time to bleed...i just dont want to.

he was in halo ce so yes he is. anyone in the halo games is canon no matter what the books say(well thats what i think anyway) games came out first so they are more canon than the books in my opinoin

The only difference between them is that Sgt. Johnson died, Chips and Stacker didn't.

  • 08.12.2011 3:47 PM PDT

He's like Dubbo. They aren't strictly characters, just stock objects with acquired proper names.

They're not "canon" or "not canon"; they don't have any canon status at all, because they aren't particular entities.

Johnson was exactly the same way back in Halo 1, though that was changed with later material that established him as a particular character. It's why I get somewhat annoyed by how many people act confused when "Johnson" supposedly dies so much in Halo. He doesn't, because he's not a particular character in Halo. Those guys are stock sarges. The only ones that in the larger canon *aren't* stock sarges are the appearances that were canonized in later materials as being the particular character known as "Johnson."

  • 08.12.2011 4:53 PM PDT

Stacker is the Nurse Joy of Halo.

And Chips Dubbo is the Officer Jenny.

  • 08.12.2011 4:55 PM PDT

I'd say he is canon. I mean, just because he shows up at odd times and doesnt at others could be anything. Maybe he wasn't in ODST because he had other important duties to perform, much like the Master Chief. That or he was taking a dump...

That was his voice actor, you never see him and/or get confirmation that it was him.
