I know that running a site of this magnitude would take a lot of time and effort from a decent sized team, but what is there to do everyday? After you create the site is there really that much to do that requires a full time webteam?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to downplay their job, I'm just curious of what a normal day for a member of the webteam entails.

Probably work on new features that can handle being abused by hundreds of thousands of people all while not disturbing the functions of any other area of the site.

Just my guess.

Well I knew that it would include the major updates we see, but those are few and far between. Would the coding and testing take that long?

Don't quote me on this, but I think the Web-team has other jobs as well within Bungie.

I wear the cheese, it does not wear me.

This account is now retired due to WLID changing. Webteam needs to fix that, seriously >.>

I heard they built a jungle gym in the server room.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

Feature proposal, cost-benefit analysis, project management, build, test, rebuild, retest, load projections and analysis, growth planning, go-live planning, transition support.... wait, why am I writing a job/duties description for a company that isn't paying me?

"On the seventh day, god did not rest, but rather he created 64 player multiplayer!"

I would expect that most of the 'web team' is on-call. As you said, once the site is up and there aren't any obvious issues, it sort of runs itself. The only maintenance becomes hardware maintenance if/when a server dies or something. Bungie may not even manage that aspect though, there might be Microsoft engineers that manage all the server stuff.

So as for the web team, I'm assuming in their day to day activities, they spend most of their time replying to emails, messages, gathering feedback from the community about the site and games, and otherwise on standby for any actual site problems.

Hello! I'm Bunie.net's resident medical student (hell i'm sure there are more but I'm the only one who openly declares it!) I love my emblem, and I am periodically active.
I have a Twitter

The community guys will probably monitor various sites to see whats occuring, the web team actual will be checking for site problems, artists will draw... Normal stuff i assume.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

It's a two part job:

1.) Think about changing webcam images
2.) Don't.

Canada isn't that important that it needs two of the same threads on page one.

Not updating groups, that's for sure.

Not even close.

I wanted to be Jessica Alba's personal "visible panty line inspector". She wasn't interested despite my excellent references.

I figured a lot of them might be on call. I wonder what other sites some of the webteam members have built.
