Hot damn! I was using the fly cam and discovered that half the entire map is loaded fully from the moment you begin the mission on the second level, Halo. You know that area where you activate the bridge? The moment you begin the mission, that area and the remainder of the tunneling system is fully loaded. You'd figure that this would murder the game's performance quality but it doesn't at all, ironically. I even took some screencaps to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

Lifeboat
Forerunner Structure
underground Bridging Station
Bird's Eye View

Well what can I say, halo utilizes RAM very well.

Just wait until you kill enough covies that the blood on the ground lowers your FPS to 0. The blood in this game for some reason causes tons of FPS problems. Same thing with breaking glass and the shards of ice you see when you drive a warthog over ice.

Nope. Even with my setup I get slowdowns when there's enough blood.

I can run games that are a lot newer than Halo 1 in max graphics without my framerate going bellow 50.

I think some graphics cards try to load the blood with more detail then it actualy has.

That's really cool and everything. I can too. Still get slowdowns. But they aren't MAJOR slowdowns, but they're still noticeable.

EDIT: 4gb DDR3 ram clocked at around 1500 mhz
AMD II X4 635 processor clocked at 2.9 ghz
1280x1024 lcd monitor
Nvidia GTX 430 1 gb DDR3 video memory

You should try FPS Limiter, it could probably help

But it's not really a big deal. The drop is very small.

It's pretty basic geometry so it doesn't require a huge amount of RAM to load the whole structure in at once. You'll notice that other levels load and unload chunks as you go.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

This happened on my Xbox, too.

Would you happen to know how decals are handled?
