I know the CANON hierarchies, but since no Spartan is dumb enough to get in hand-to-hand with a Brute besides John there's no instance in the books, although by the book words: Fred always came up in second place due to personal choice, aka, he was the second best CQC fighter/Sniper/etc, and don't even dare say John is the best at CQC because you know that would be a lie.

No spartan dumb enough? Since when was ANY spartan dumb? Its unavoidable sometimes. And of course John isnt the best at CQC. He's the luckiest. And debatable whether or not hes the best leader.

Unfortunately true. They can have John survive logistically impossible odds but no one ever complains about it because he is "lucky". As long as they keep up that facade John is not going anywhere.

Cal's fight was unavoidable, but overdone.

I mean, the chieftains power armor for some reason had no shields, and it was not striking with the force, or moving with the speed it should be.

Brutes come from a planet with twice the gravity of earth. Cal shouldn't have been leaping over the brute with no harm, or dancing as she was.

Indeed, the fun saying. "Lady Luck favors the weak and foolish." People try saying Chief is super-skilled in additon to lucky, but how many times has he gotten out of something due to luck, and not skill?

I meant the bit where she foolishly jumped in front of the hammer strike, instead of stopping it with her hands as she had done it before.

Oh, second time around? When she (As I took it) was 'Deer in headlights' posed/expressioned? (Then promptly took the hammer directly to the face.)

Just shows she noticed how little damage she actually did to the brute.

I'd say the fact she hit the ground, and bounced a distance away shows just how strong the brutes can be. Mark IV isn't light.

Looking at the new trilogy, it will be inevitable that Chief will fight a War Sphinx or similar war machine and as many people here are fond of saying: those things can sweep continents (sweep now means destroy I guess). If Chief is not a red smear the second that pops into view, then there is no denying plot armor.

Ha, I remember how somebody who read cryptum slapped the person who was saying they could single-handedly destroy Continents by laying out the context of the quote was speed, not firepower :D.

Anyway, Chief fighting any Forerunner war machine past sentinals seems foolhardy...

How in the world would the Sphinxes do that anyway? Any weapon big enough to destroy a continent requires a range in the thousands of kilometers so that the user doesn't kill himself in it's usage. The vast distance required would end up having the entire target hidden by the curvature of the planet (the sphinxes are commonly used in atmo after all) and you would be unable to aim.

Mr Exsclusive. Slang for Mr Exclusive...

Johnoson has been kicking ass and taking names for 10 years. Plus who has survived 3 halo games and who has died after 1 halo game. Nuff said.

Luck: The new term for plot-shield.

Any Spartan II could of done what John did in the trilogy but just because John done all those things, don't mistake everything he's done on how lucky he is then say that luck is nothing more then a plot shield. All Spartans are exceptional in their own way and Chief did do all those things and will continue to do those things as will all the other other Spartans that are stilll alive! They will continue to fight for humanity.

As for his luck? I HATE bringing it into any discussion because it's such a stupid trait and the idea of it being a variable in the Spartans is retarded.

This is why I don't like Kurt either, I didn't know the kids were walking around with psychic super power these day. All joking aside, I think making him "psychic" of sorts was a stupid idea as is John's "luck" that is brought into almost every debate the mildly include John.
