sv_public true
sv_maxplayers 4
sv_mapcycle_timeout 15
sv_mapcycle_add deathisland rocketonly
sv_mapcycle_begin

open the haloded.exe file.....

We need this stickied... seriously

1. Configure your firewall (Windows Firewall or 3rd party) to allow the server to actually act as a server.

2. Forward the ports 2302 and 2303 (or the port that you put in the ini-file of the server) to your router. If you don't know how to do this, check the manual that came with it or go to http://www.portforward.com

Good luck with it

I've been having the same (or a similar) problem. I can get my server up and running, I can see it on the public screen, I can join it, but nobody else can....

I have created exceptions in both Windows XP's firewall and my hardware (NETGEAR wireless) firewall.

I had set Port TRIGGERING to trigger UDP on Port 2303 and receive UDP on Port 2302....

Now am I correct in understanding that I need to use Port FORWARDING to forward BOTH ports? Would I do this instead of Triggering or in conjunction with Triggering?

That seems to contradict something I read about this on Microsoft's site. (I need to find the link again. If I can, I'll post it.)

Indeed, don't trigger the ports, forward them. I'll spare you technical details.. ;)

Make sure that you moved the rocketonly gametype onto your server in the cg\gametypes folder. Also if it's rocket only(with a space you need to put it in quotes i.e. "rocket only" in order for it to work.

In your Halo folder on the dedicated server you need to add a cg folder then under that add a gametypes folder under that. Then under My documents\MyGames\Halo\gametypes there should be folders for the different gametypes you created. Copy those folders from that directory into the one on the dedicated server.

That screwed clanservers.com when they setup my dedi server the first time also. They took a couple days to figure out what was going on.

A lot of guys r havn trouble getting the servers to work for them, even with port forwarding and the init file done properly. I have found the easiest fix if A:u can't join your server or
B: others cant join is to change the ports.
When you install the game (Halo) it sets default ports {2302=2303) If you change the Halo (game) ports to 2304-2305) and the server ports to (2302-2303) this will solve that problem.
