Subject: A Modest Proposal

meh...

do you honestly believe it is smart for the community to elect its moderators?

The majority of people don't know who the guys are that should be ninjas.

Uneducated people voting only for people who look cool, sounds like that will cause problems

[edit] I didn't think it was as good as harvesting babies from the poor and feeding them to the rich to come out of terrible economic times. *Sends letter to Obama* [/edit]
There's only so much one can do within the context of a website...

how would you know if Obama wasn't a member of the community?

It's interesting because I explicitly said that I did not want an election in the OP. It'd be nice if you understood my position before attacking it (see: Strawman fallacy).

Nice plan, IMO.

That's a terrible idea.

You see, the users with the most popular moderating philosophy will have a large, vigilant group of supporters who will report moderating injustice to their choice of moderator candidates, who will proceed to ban the poorer moderators. Through days of endless banning, a select few, whose popularity amongst users will have given them the upper edge over the less apt, and those few will form a community a tight-knit community of popular-yet-effective moderators deemed fit by this process to rule over us all.

Government through anarchy? Well, alrighty then.

ok, drop the elections. there are still problems. The popular guys like Duardo will be taken down in an instant. the trolls of the site will go after the big names first. the small unnoticed guys will be the safest because everyone would abuse their powers. The weak will turn against the strong and all hell on the site breaks loose

then you are retarded. the people that will call for order will be struck down instantly. I'm sorry to single out Duardo, but he would be gone within minutes. both you and me would be gone within minutes as well. especially if Bungie did this tonight, because people will go through each forum going down name by name banning whoever they see. someone who just joined will live because no one will notice him.

it's quite factual when you look at my argument. you don't seem to understand the concept of greed, jealousy, and lust for power.

Brainwashing, idiotic media: "hur dur, vido gaems cas vilenc n iz nt gud. dey ned 2 b baned."

Logic: Really? Then please explain how there's violence in third world countries. I guess they're all poor due to the large amount of video games they buy.

China called, they asked why you broke their wall.

Uh I'm a bit of a noob, what's an "Achronos"?

Nintenman7: Apply yourself... Seggi31: HHHHNNNNNNGGGGG

I 100% disagree, but I enjoyed the writing technique. You've gotta find someone to narrate that. Good effort.

I'd suggest a more concise, evidence-based approach next time, offering a little bit of concession to the dominate view, trying to offer something good for everyone.

Ever thought of writing a novel?

P.S. - If you're looking for a place to harness more of your writing potential for this sort of writing, I'd suggest taking some first year college writing classes and a community college. WR121 and 122 can do some good. Community college is community college, but it's a resource like all the rest- whatever you make of it. Also, if you want to do some reading, check out Great Books. That site, along with this list should get you started on a good part of the list accepted by the best of schools. Just in case you want to get another step ahead of the game. Okay, done with the off topic.

I hope you weren't a recently banned member flaming the mods in a creative way. It's 11:40 PM, after all.

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

The Black Chapter!

My good sir, you would unban them all?
Every guise by which John Cena has presented himself, every rapscallion who has darkened our doors? Watermelon King, Blue Jaguar, even that great trickster impurity?

I vote against this repulsive scheme. You must be mad, for I can see no way a man of decency and logic would come to this conclusion. Had I a corporeal presence near you, I would slap you for your impertinence! Now begone!

A fine proposal OP, I agree completely.

However, I think that you need to grab your nearest dictionary and re-read the definition of "Modest".

In a room filled with kings and queens some days i feel like the jester!...

It's a nice sentiment albeit pretentious but nice nonetheless.

Unfortunately it's moot every forum around the globe has ppl on it that are going to flaunt how much more they know and how much weight they can pull.

This isn't isolated to these forums so this may get swept under a rug and ppl will continue along with the status quo.

nice little prose above but you wasted your time pal.
