I think that forum moderator posts are generally of a higher standard than an average post on this forum. This is probably a result of the extra care and consideration that a moderator puts into his or her post, which in turn is a result of their seeking to preserve a high reputation. It's anonymity that causes much of the abusive and incoherent babble seen on the internet. A forum moderator has a well-established identity, and central to that identity is the respect of others. As human beings, we dislike losing the respect of those we value.

Of course, the attention (including negativity) they receive is far removed from the attention they would receive based on the quality of what they say. I suspect this is because they're essentially the forum equivalent of a celebrity. Why people get so clamorous around merely interacting with celebrities is probably well-documented, although I couldn't really comment myself.

I get what you're saying. And you're right, for the most part. But lots of times a Ninja's post is simply an in-joke, sarcasm, or just a joke. Lots of them not even that funny (sorry, they're not), and yet for some reason they demand the attention of everyone in the thread.

I've seen forumgoers laugh at things that are obviously in-jokes just so seem like they got the joke.

Your point about them being celebrities is, also, a good one. But I honestly don't get the mentality of it. Why would being nice to a Ninja(celebrity) get you in the good graces of the Ninja(celebrity) and therefore give you a better chance of becoming one in the same rank AS that Ninja(celebrity)?

I guess I'm just not in the right mind set.

When people come into contact with someone who is known for their authority, they will either hate them or love them, challenge them or side with them.
Some challenge them, and they hope to bring them down a few pegs to their level. The others side with them, and they hope to rise to their level. Either way, they just want them to be equal.

Bungie Day '11 Community Mosaic Thread

everybody listen to mac2po he is 100% right

1. You could say the exact same thing for when a Bungie Employee posts in a thread (though you see the quote button "abused" far more when it's them).

2. Forums Ninjas at one point were regular members, and in reality still are regular members. Their view/opinion should be taken with the same value as a regular run of the mill member.

3. Eh, read number 2. Same deal, different question. Minus a couple words.

When a employee posts the thread is about quoting, worshipping, and agreeing with them no matter what.

It's a lot to do with actually the colors, and the psychology that goes with bright colors with the human mind.

Expressing my strong liberal views without shame. Favorite quotes below:

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe."
"One starts to live when he can live outside himself."

- Albert Einstein

I feel that the good ninjas understand their position is of responsibility and not privilege, and that their tendency to be correct or incorrect isn't different from that of a regular member by virtue of their title.

The Halo forums on this website have a plethora of problems. Overreacting to ninja posts is just one of the few, and not even close to the most important.

However, like you said, the Community Forum tends to integrate ninjas into the larger community (as it is meant to be) rather than discriminate them as being of a different post value.

Interesting theory. And now that I think about it that could be some of the problem but I still think that lots of the time its just people attempting to get in the good graces of a particular Ninja or the Ninja community.

In waht way? There was no study and therefore no study design. It was all based on my own personal findings.

There's nothing wrong with disagreeing with a ninja, I do it, just make sure you have a valid point or you'll make a fool of yourself.
Also, they have more respect than other members, I'm more likely to listen to the opinion of a ninja or mythic member than a regular member because a large company trusts them with a small amount of power, therefore I trust their judgement.
They are sort of like cops, evryone knows one and you can joke around with one... just don't pass them.

Whoo.

Of course a ninja will get more posts posting a stupid thread in the flood than a run of the mill member in the community forum, it's the flood, not only does it get far more traffic than the community forum but it basically thrives off stupid threads.

We miss you Logan.
Ask any question. I'll help with anything on site or off.

I agree and disagree. As you probably have seen not everyone agrees with the forum ninjas. In fact I dot even agree with them most of the time ,but I hear what they have to say because there forum ninjas for a reason. Also I do think some of them get to much credit half them are not even here, to cut this post short because I could go on ,and on I see what your saying.
