I was told today that my oldschool-ness intimidated people. Ever since my HBO days, I wanted to be there, intimidating people, and now I am!

We’ve watched while the stars burned
Out, and creation played in reverse.
The Universe freezing in half-light.
Once I thought to escape.
To end a master, step out of the
Path of collapse. Escape would make us God.
Yet I cannot help but remember one enigma,
A hybrid, elusive destroyer.
This is the one mystery I have not solved.
The only element unaccounted for.

And you don't even need to be as over-the-top as ForceMorph and myself!

BTW, you deserve the "hilarious award" for your posts of late... you're just too funny!

That is not a good thing. Your old-schoolness intimidates people for the wrong reasons. You should be proud if people are intimidated by the fact that they perceive you as old-school, and it's a sort of "revere you with awe-inspired respect" kind of intimidation. That is the "good" sort of intimidation. However, if it's because you are perceived to be one of a group who go around attacking new people because they think Halo is a good game, or they don't know what Marathon is (you know who you are), you should be ashamed. Think about how you want to intimidate people before beginning the celebrations.

You wouldn't, by chance, be referring to someone who used to use the N word a lot would you?

...

Naw.

Someone touched you and made you want to cry? Shouldn't you tell an adult about this?

Blah blah blah. I'm from New York. Ain't nothin short of the Devil himself intimidates ME.

Oldskool just means you gonna die sooner.

Not to say that I haven't been playing Bungie games for 9 years, not to say that I don't think the influx of idiots to B.net is the wackest thing possible...

Oh well, that just means I have to be even more cynical and my tounge will fall like a hammer upon the carapace of these microbrained x-boys.

And yet notice your account creation date...

Why are you considered old school. Ive been around longer than you, and I dont even consider myself "old school". Am I missing something here?

BTW, Hey lysergicide, he wasnt talking to you. (Unless you have two accounts.)

He does.

And may I ask why people are suddenly flashing their “Old schoolness" as some kind of status symbol lately? I keep on seeing "Yeah, I was here since (enter older Bungie game name here) so I'm better than you small-brained Neanderthals". Here's some news for you, I have never seen your boasting as being intimidating. In fact it has the exact opposite effect on me.

I wasn't aware that old-schoolers (I am assuming that means long-time Bungie fans) were intimidating. I had considered us more akin to the old and crazy uncle that is kinda-cool because sometimes he lets you have one of his beers.

I figured that old farts (such as myself) were tolerated and allowed to ramble about things like, "I remember the first time I torched a Pfhor, what a sound it made..." but weren't really taken seriously since the myelin sheaths on our neurons had degraded so much. (That means we don't have as great twitch refelxes as you younger players)

That all hinges on the fact that old-school=old fan. If it's dependant on a B.net account creation date, well then, no one's getting any beer from me!

Agreed. I dont agree with Machiavelli (the political scientist.) when he says that it is better to be feared than loved. Sorry Machiavelli. (the mod.)

It's not you, or Recon- it's some others that I have noticed lately.

My eyes have been opened to this "old-school" nonsense. it doesn't matter how long you've been around, it's who you are that counts. (pause for emotional response)

however it is a cutting blade in my side when people say things like "I just figured out how to get on top of sidewinder!" i mean come on people... it's annoying.

By saying you've been around for awhile people know that you know the rules, that you've been waiting for halo 2 for as long as them (misery loves company) ,and that they haven't done anything to get booted yet. it's kinda like when you see someone wearing a hat from a sports team you like, immiediatly you feel a litle more comfortable and accepting of the person.

i think that's a pretty good way of putting things. anyone that disagrees, check the damn link in my sig.

I call Lt Devon, Devon Ham. And I agree, it isnt what your doing that matters, its how you did it, what impressions you left on people, and what you might do next.

Reiginko, I was told that I intimidated people with my knowledge, not being Subnova-esque. I would never be Subnova-ish. If I ever am, please tell me.

(Edit) Devon Ham?

(Edit#2) I have in no means been around for awhile, it's just my old-school attitude and such.
