She can't die until the last game in the trilogy.

Actually, I think it'd be interesting to see her die at the end of Halo 5. Then we'd see how John would have cope without her (leading to his death).

This series needs MOAR DEATH!

Benjamin!

Cortana's death or redemption should be in the last game of this trilogy, I personally think the way to go is for her to descend in to rampancy and become the Chief's adversary, atleast for a time.

She cannot die...
She is an ai...that is in a system...she can make hundreds of copies of herself....infact she is a copy of catherine and anyway she is stored on a computer somewhere in an inter coloney planet (lolz).

All smart AIs face death through rampancy. And no, she is stored in a projector on the Dawn.

I don't think they actually die from rampancy, but that when they hit that point someone erases or deletes the AI.

There are multiple things about rampancy that have been said. For example, in Contact Harvest it is stated that it's possible for a rampant AI to "think itself" to death because of the vast amounts of information they've stored.

Maybe her programming will fail. But I doubt it.

John should have to kill her in 5 or 6

Agreed.

On another note. arghhh 'Halo 5' and 'Halo 6' sounds like overkill. I wish they had called it something else.

"On the seventh day, god did not rest, but rather he created 64 player multiplayer!"

I have a feeling we'll get a cliche death for her, where she has to stay behind to MANUALLY activate something which will end up destroying her.

I don't think she should die though... And I don't think John should die either. Halo 3's ending was perfect...and I wouldn't mind that same ending happening again, where John goes into cryo-sleep, or maybe it'll be a Cryptum this time...and then the game fades. No cliffhanger.

This.

I think this trilogy will see the death of at least Cortana. Chief...well I'm not too certain about him. I mean, for some reasons it would be better for him to die at the end. But then again it seems hard to kill him off, and I feel 343i isn't going there (easily).

Cortana dying is imminent however. She's probably at the edge of rampancy. Either she will survive that, or she will die. And for the sake of the story I think its best if she dies.

How many of you guys watched halo legends? Did you see where Cortana is flashing from red and back? She's going Rampant which basically means she's reaching the end of her life.

Cortana has and is facing rampancy for quite some time already. Basically that process was initiated and sped up by the first Halo, and then fast forwarded by Gravemind during his time with Cortana. But she somehow survived that ordeal, plus having absorbed (probably) more data than any AI should have done over her relatively short lifespan.
The result is Cortana is somehow constantly posponing her rampancy and already living longer than anybody would expect her to by the time of Halo Legends (and H4).

But its unlikely she will keep that up and survive the next trilogy (unless her contact with Forerunner technology somehow made her resistant to rampancy, or she can be fixed by possible Forerunners)

I think killing Chief and Cortana would be a bad idea for these games.

Halo 3 had plenty of death, too much. They killed of Keyes AND Johnson and those were the 2 'other' characters to have a connection with. ESPECIALLY Johnson, since he was basically John's only true friend.

I liked how Halo 3 left us back where we started, with only 2 characters left to worry about surviving, just like a majority of Halo CE. (aside from Keyes who grew important..er as the game went on)

Once again, it is our job to finish what the flyboys started. We are leaving this ship, platoon, and engaging the Covenant on solid ground. When we meet the enemy, we will rip their skulls from their spines, and toss 'em away, laughin'! Am I right, Marines?

I think we are going to see Cortana go deep into rampancy by the end of Halo 5 possibly becoming the primary opponent to Master Chief.

I would like to see the struggle for John to cope with removing her and leaving her behind as he heads out into new territory, and how she reacts. Possibly my attempting to destroy the machine type world they are trapped on together.

Chief was already without Cortana for the vast majority of Halo 3.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Not Halo 4. Maybe at the end of the series or at least Halo 5. But not the next Halo.

Yeah but he was with Thel, Johnson and the UNSC. This time he'd (possibly) be completely alone.
