Do not waste your tears, I was not born to watch the world grow dim. Life is not measured in years, but by the deeds of men.

We should know better, because we are better.
I would want Cortana too die in a glorious way. More death is needed.

She cannot die...
She is an ai...that is in a system...she can make hundreds of copies of herself....infact she is a copy of catherine and anyway she is stored on a computer somewhere in an inter coloney planet (lolz).
All smart AIs face death through rampancy. And no, she is stored in a projector on the Dawn.
I don't think they actually die from rampancy, but that when they hit that point someone erases or deletes the AI.
There are multiple things about rampancy that have been said. For example, in Contact Harvest it is stated that it's possible for a rampant AI to "think itself" to death because of the vast amounts of information they've stored.
AIs can overcome it. Mack/Loki was on the first colony ship to Harvest which was back in the 25th century (Halopedian says 2468, but I don't trust that) and he is still active more than a decade later. Governor Thune remembers Mack when he was a kid. Obviously, AIs can potentially survive past rampancy. Mack/Loki may be an exception because Loki is a PSI and ONI is probably keeping him from being deleted or because they are a pair.
