Let me explain something to you.
There is hierarchy of canon, depending on specific sci-fi universe. For example, Halo: Games (storyline only) and novels are canon. Or, star wars's movies and novels/comics are canon too. I'm not sure about stargate, I havent heard about novels are released or whatever.
You can determine its firepower in movies or games but YOU HAVE to consider about affecting factors: Game engine limitations, gameplay mechanics, limitations of CGI effects (movies), money budget (movies), etc.
I see, that is similar argument made by Fact pile site where those people knew nothing about implementing proper mathematical methods, debating methods and knew nothing about depth of some sci-fi universe. For example. Halo vs Mass Effect article, it seems that most of people only know little about Halo or Mass Effect, making debating pointless.
So just friendly reminding you.
Halo: Game canon > Book Canon, except for stated yields in book canon. 64kt ship MAC, Covie ships weak to 30MT nukes...
SW: ICS touted as epitome of bat[REDACTED] insanity. However, most fans of other canons go by shown yields.
Stargate: Orbital bombardments, seen from the planet, are usually stated as dial-a-yield... I mean, when we see it from space, we usually get up into the high megaton/double gigaton range. If the director posts the yield of a weapon/size of a ship on his blog, then that is called hard canon.
(Is where the 11km long hive ship figure came from, along with the 30km long ZPM hiveship idea...)
And the novels turn the Ancients into a civilization almost as wacky as the Forerunners...
Actually... game canon > book canon does not exist anymore since 343i said everything will fit in in Halo universe, it means that they're throwing out game canon > book canon and just call it game canon and book canon being equal.
And, let me explain about why it is illogical to have 64kt MAC as maximum yield on EVERY type of SHIP.
That 64kt yield is ON FRIGATE because of smaller mass therefore, smaller MAC and smaller reactor. Same for destroyers as well, due almost similar to Frigate, just more armored and more firepower. However, you have to consider about cruisers, carriers and supercarriers... they are far larger than frigates and destroyers. Larger mass = higher requirements of power output thus needing larger reactors to power it.
And I see, you're using that GoO as evidence as Covenant's shields being weak to 30Mt? That's not necessarily true because there is a problem: 30 Mt nuke is not powerful enough to completely vaporize several Covenant ship, you're looking more than 30mt. And I recall, it was stated that nukes were useless against Covenant because of their point defense pulse lasers that shoots down missiles.
Good point on that star gate.
