Well of course we at no way possible cannot say for sure but it is very possible that it is the timeless one.
He had enough time to start a precursor race on the hidden halo.
The timeless one:The Prisoner is thought to have escaped on the Halo that was test-fired at Charum Hakkor 'four to five decades' prior to the events of Halo: Cryptum, which Mendicant Bias took into slipspace and hid until his return under 'a new master'. The Gravemind, according to the Halo 3 terminals, talked with Mendicant for 379,807 hours, or roughly 43 years, before Mendicant Bias agreed to fight for him. It is unknown whether this "new master" refers to the Prisoner or to the Gravemind, or whether the two are linked.

However i have no idea why he would go against humans instead of forerunners...
What do you think about this ?

There is incontrovertible evidence to support that claim.

The Terminals state that Mendicant Bias conversed with the Gravemind for 43 years before forcing itself into Rampancy, defecting to the Flood and betraying the Forerunners. I find it to be far beyond coincidence that the test-firing of Installation 05 at Charum Hakkor - and thus the release of the Prisoner - occurred at the same time and they conversed also for 43 years.

Gravemind states in Human Weakeness that he has consumed many AIs but spared one who joined him long ago, obviously referring to Mendicant Bias.

Primordium's description states that humans call the Prisoner "The Primordial", this is the same name Major John Smith uses to describe the Flood in The Mona Lisa.

The Prisoner is known as "the Timeless One", Gravemind describes himself as a "timeless chorus".

Gravemind states he has "listened - through rock and metal and time", the Prisoner listened to the humans and San'Shyuum at Charum Hakkor in his prison for a very long time.

The last words of the Gravemind is "resignation is my virtue; like water I ebb, and flow. Defeat is simply the addition of time to a sentence I never deserved... but you imposed." The latter part is referring to imprisonment, a sentence he never deserved. The PRISONER of Charum Hakkor, locked away for unknown reasons.

Mendicant Bias given charge of Installation 05 (his serial number was 05-032), the Prisoner stowed away on the Installation he stole - the same Halo we discover the Gravemind on 100,000 years later.

"Child of my enemy," is a reference to Ancient Humanity - the first foe the Flood fought and lost against.

The Gravemind was in containment on Installation 05 and escaped when Penitent Tangent ignored his containment protocols. The Gravemind cannot have been formed after the breakout because there was no sentient life living there.

None of this is evidence.

The gravemind is made up of multiple minds not one. And the last time i checked the Gravemind did not have a 3 metre long barbed tail.

Whatever you have to say against this i wont read it until tomorrow i am going to bed.

It is evidence. You're going to disregard that whole post by saying that none of it is evidence? Sigh... -_-

This is the only Gravemind we've seen. The others are Proto-Graveminds that appeared as nothing more than huge blobs, this Gravemind speaks as if it is extremely old.

Let's run a timeline:
- Prisoner escapes Charum Hakkor and stows away on MB's Installation - likely Installation 05 because that's the Ring MB was given charge of.

- Prisoner resides in the Palace of Pain, still on the same Installation. Flood arrives and they are both put into containment.

- Flood infects the Prisoner, he becomes the Gravemind from the amount of biomass he absorbs.

You never see the "end" of the Gravemind, his physical form twists and turns with mutated limbs growing out of it.

Apply the Gravemind's dialogue in the trilogy and Human Weakness to the information about the Prisoner in Cryptum and everything makes sense. The "Timeless Chorus", "monument to all your sins", and "child of my enemy" all makes sense applying the story surrounding the Prisoner and the Flood to the trilogy.

That makes perfect sense, i heard all the text, and words that are describing the prisoner, and didnt realize at first that it all relates to the gravemind. Therefore the prisoner described is the gravemind!

Lol.

It's like people who believe that have never seen the Flood. Know what they do? They sprout extra limbs and mutate and -blam!-, the Prisoner is on a Ring soon to contain thousands (if not millions) of specimins.

And since the Gravemind believes the Flood is the next stage of organic evolution, it's possible the Prisoner shares the same sentiment and allows himself to become infected.

And did not the Didact say on Charum Hakkor(?) say upon discovering the Prisoner was gone, "You have given him more power than you can imagine."

Gee, the total control of a legion of parasitic organisms and the ability to defeat the then most technologically advanced race of sentient beings in the galaxy. If that isn't power, what is?

I disagree about Installation 05.

I'm assuming that MB was in charge of the original installation 05, in which case a new one was created to replace the original and given a new caretaker. (2401 Penitent Tangent)

We will know soon enough, but it will require thought. Deep thought. Mendicant Bias must be found. The Mantle will soon follow.

People have quite a bit of interest in the Flood today.

More great connections - can't wait to see how they'll be proved or disproved.

And yet, Bear has overloaded Cryptum with evidence that the Prisoner and Gravemind are the same entity...

No, actually. They need to show John's face to finally prove that he is no longer the faceless figure Bungie made with the lazy intention of having us picture ourselves to be him. 343 say they're giving him a personality this time, good, now prove at last that he's actually a person and not some archetype we have to put ourselves in.
