By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

I doubt that the Prisoner is actually a Precursor, but I have no doubt that he is the Gravemind because there is lots of evidence that point to it.

Both the Prisoner and the Gravemind are likened to a Eurypterid, except the Gravemind is clearly warped and twisted in appearance by Flood biomass. We know the Prisoner hitched on MB's Installation (given his serial number it was Installation 05 he stole because he was given control of it) and is still on it at the time Primordium takes place in the Palace of Pain.

It's likely that by the time the Flood are contained on Installation 05, they will infect the Prisoner and he becomes the Gravemind.

oh ok thanks...yeah I think that the prisoner could originally be a precursor but was then infected by the flood and then what u said

That's exactly what I'm thinking.

In all the descriptions we have of the prisoner, it seems likely to me that it IS the last Precursor, but, infected by the Flood. I never got the feeling that a Precursor would say terrible things that frightened humans so badly that they would need to keep it locked up...but a Flood-infected Precursor...perhaps so.
