Subject: Bungies new plans???

So I have been a fan of Halo since I was a little boy. About 8 or 9. I went to all the midnight launches. I got the limited addition for Halo 2 and the Legendary for Halo 3 plus first in line and Halo Reach Legendary box set and the Reach xbox. when Halo Reach first showed its face on E3 I posted up a forum just like this one. Giving valuable information on how you guys should make the multiplayer for Reach. which you guys didn't disappoint. You guys put everthing I asked for except the big idea. I want to know if you guys did hear my message and actually couldn't put the big idea that I wanted to see in Reach, aside from all the stuff you guys did put in from my little ideas. So the quetion is did you guys join up with activition, to complete the task that I once asked for you guys to create for Reach and instead save it for this new game? I want to know if that idea was mine or truly yours. I do not expect credit but I would certainly would love to give you guys more of my ideas. I live and breathe Halo. I have a brilliant mind and a creative imagination I love science fiction and Halo by far is the greatest scince fiction story ever created. I always wanted to do something in the Halo universe, but now you guys have moved on. The good thing is what I always wanted to implement in halo can completly work for a new game. The idea I have been saving in my head for as long as I could remember can definitely work for any game title. Im 18 years old, but Im the most intelligent 18 year old you will ever meet. So when the opportunity comes, for that I have been working so hard to achive arrives. I will greet it with nothing less then perfection. Im writing this for a respectful reply from the bungie team... from a honarable fan. I just graduated from high school I am feeling eager to write and create something unbelievable. I have what you guys need. There's nothing I can't do. Every door has opened, But the door to bungie is the one that I really want to be opened for me. For some examples of my writing I'll gladly send you an exerpt. It will not dissapoint. Ending this note I will not dissclose any of my personal infromation. I mean no disrespect for doing so, but I know you have everthing you guys need to contact me.
I have a lot of soul. Is'nt that what buniges all about.

P.S Secrecy is my middle name;]

"I don't care if it's God's own anti-Son of a -blam!- Machine or a giant hula-hoop!"

I really hate to do burst your bubble but...

Bungie has one of the best multiplayer design teams in the business, and do not rely on the community for ideas. Sure, they love feedback (Optimatch) but they don't cater to everyone's last whim. (Or else everyone would have Recon long before the Vidmaster's.) So do not have such high hopes in thinking that they based Reach's multiplayer around your sole ideas.

If you're looking to join the Bungie team, see if you qualify for any of their career opportunities. Unfortunately, I don't know of any that a recent high-school graduate can qualify for. Good luck in your goal of helping Bungie though, I hope you make it!

Thanks:] I know bungie has an amazing mulitplayer team but everyones need help once in a while. I know someone that works with Acivition. When I say someone I mean a lover of mine in the past, I asked her the same thing in a diffrent way. She didn't want to disclose any information.. so it made me think. It was way to coincidental that my old posts actually came true about Halo Reach and the whole thing with Activition, I can't really say much of my idea but.. I think there's no barrier for a valuable asset to a company, I honestly have nothing to offer to bungie but my words. Maybe after a couple years after taking some hard core computer science classes and programming for the first year of my community college. I'll have something for bungie to be impressed about. I'm just worried that I won't be able to write anything for the new game. School will take time and I don't think the time range will allow me to be employed as a writer and programer by Bungie and present everything I have before the first game has gone into production and released. If I can contribute some of my ideas before then I would be happy, such actions could be a breach of security for bungie. Knowing this I'm more then capable of keeping a secret.. to my dying breath and beyond if necessary, but I would not die without a fight. I wouldn't mind. Losing everything either if death wasn't the situation. I would expect the same from my employees if I had a company that required secrecy. Definitely I already looked into the career opportunities, again I have nothing to give but my passion. My lover was younger then me when she was working for Activition and working on the current progect right now.. I see why not, I couldn't be offered a possion as a writer till I collect more knowledge from school for the time being. If she is a programer still in high school working on such a huge project, working WITH the two largest multiplayer bahumyths in the world. What does that tell me.. anything is possible, why wait. It's just up to the people to allow and bend the rules once in a while to change the world. Its's a small world we live in...

Videogames, Anime, and Interwebz. I love it all!

The gaming industry is full of "passionate" people. This is a highly competetive industry as well and frankly passion won't get you far compared to actaul training, know-how, and education. I'm passionate as hell for this industry. There's little I love and will defend more than gaming but I'm also not even close to dev team material. Until I go through college and continue to learn things about how games are made I'm not going anywhere on passion alone.

"We live in a special time; the only time where we can observationally verify that we live in a very special time" - Lawrence Krauss.

I was a finalist :P

Well I love how you are a hardcore fan, but you still need experience to work for bungie. They most likely will not accept you for that reason. So get in gear, work you ass off in high school and university, learn what you are fascinated by and get the job that pleases you!

Because in the end you want to say every morning 'Yes I got work today' and not 'damn I got work...'. Go for it!

I know what you mean, my father is a computer genius... he worked for NASA.. Toyota.. G.M.C.. NBC Universal and countless other big company's, he openly admits how I know more information about computers then he does. He knows advanced programming... which I will start taking my self, and learn from him as well. he works as a data base administrator. Computers are in my blood. It's like second nature to me.. I just need a paper to tell them that I'm qualified, but I don't want to apply just yet for a career opportunity at Bungie for a programmer just as writer for the time being. I have nothing to put on my resume.. I just want someone from Bungie to hear my message of getting something that would revolutionize the multi-player experience exponentially for ever... It's one of those idea's that are worth 50 billion dollars, But getting it to work.. is going to be a challenge.

I know a few people in the game industry, and I've asked what it takes to be a writer for a game, and they all say it takes some experience to be a writer. It's very rare for someone to come directly into the industry and be a writer.

One of Bungie's current story writers is Jospeh Staten and he's been at Bungie since 1998. Jason Jones does a lot of writing (and he's amazing at it too, coming from the guy who wrote most of Marathon Trilogy stories, and a lot in Halo CE) and he's been making games for 20 years and co-founded Bungie.

As for programming, it doesn't just take advance programming techniques. I know a few engineers at Bungie and they all pretty much said that they are pretty math focus. To take an exact quote from one, "You need to be good at C++ and great at math". I'm also currently majoring in computer science and it takes a bunch of math.

Yea? my Computer science classes started last night.. haha can't wait to finish it. I have to look in to more math classes tho. Thanks:] I totally forgot to get math classes... <3

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

If you'd like to apply for a job at Bungie, check the jobs page linked earlier in the thread. This page also contains detailed instructions on how to apply.

The Community Forum is not really the place to do it, and now you're advertising your YouTube channel, so I'm going to lock this up. Good luck on your job hunting.
