Subject: Halo 2

I suppose you are right to an extent. However, I don't think much imagination would be required to like that game. It takes alot more imagination to come up with somthing on the scale of the Halo universe than it does to think of a mushroom kingdom with a plumber saving a princess. Although it would also take some intelligence to think of somthing such as the Halo universe.

That leads me to believe that the majority of people that like the game for its "story" (if you can call that a story) are reasonably, for lack a better word, stupid.

I would assume that people that enjoy Mario for it's gameplay have not played anything better, or simply fail at everything else. I see nothing in the gameplay of the Mario games (even the new stupid go-cart racing games) that is appealing at all.

As for adults that like it... grow up and remember the game for what it is (a game for little kids that have nothing better to do or are unitelligent enough to do anything else) and not what you thought it was at the time you played it (the best game ever, one of the best games ever, ect. ect.).

facts, educated guesses, educated opinions > opinions based on emotions, nostalgia

Halo 3

Paper Mario

While Mario is good, it is not a system seller to me anymore. The only two Mario games i have really enjoyed were Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy. I may not have been old enough to experience the older games, but those two were definitely worthwhile playing.

However that said, everyone has their own taste in games and people may disagree.

Adults that like Mario (Not all, just most) don't actually play the game. They laugh and remember the character. They don't actually go out of their way to buy the game. Also, its the gameplay that people liked. It was the hilarity of a plumber in a weird mushroom world saving a princess that they liked. It wasn't about the actual story.

In reality, you should never compare Halo and Mario. They are two incredibly different things to ever actually compare. One is meant for adults/12 year olds and the other is meant for kids. If it doesn't have a compelling story, that's why. You're looking at this as a teenager/whatever you are (Nothing against you, I just assume you're around 13 - 15 by the way you type) instead of looking at it with the eyes of a kid.

The sort of nostalgia that people get from Mario is the kind that you see art, people dressed up as Mario, etc and just laugh about it. You just sit there and laugh all day about the memories you had. It's not the kind like you see in the Halo Community where people obsess over the game and act like no other game in the world will ever be good enough for them since they played that game. (As in healthy nostalgia, not obsessive nostalgia)

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Hi. I'm 25. Earlier this month, I was re-playing through Super Mario Galaxy with great enjoyment. I look forward to having SMB3 on my 3DS, as well as Super Mario 3D Land coming out later this year. Your point is now irrelevant.

Want more? Later this week, I'm moving in with a couple of good friends. We're all getting a house. Many long stints of New Super Mario Bros co-op and Super Smash Bros Brawl are on the menu.

Need I go on?

Nope. I'm not. Because unlike wanna-be-hardcores, I value good gameplay. Mario games have good gameplay. They're genuinely good games. I'm not going to forsake a good game just because the main character isn't some armor-encased space marine mowing down aliens.

No one is saying the story is brilliant (mostly due to its basic, bizarre, nature) but I will say it was appropriate seeing as how few (if any) games at the time were developed with the intent of telling a story.

I would assume that people that enjoy Mario for it's gameplay have not played anything better, or simply fail at everything else. I see nothing in the gameplay of the Mario games (even the new stupid go-cart racing games) that is appealing at all.

No, we enjoy the gameplay because it's solid, basic, and overall fun, whether you're playing SMB on the NES or Galaxy on the Wii. As for the rest of your post, all I can say is well, this.

Well, I am done expressing my own opinion, my question for you now, is why so much hate for something you could care less for?

Or are you trolling as barnacle implied?

Smash Bros Melee and Brawl are great games to play when you're enjoying company, it's madness in a good way.

Now, lets not forget Mario Kart 64. That, along with Zelda OOT was what I spent most of my childhood playing. AND I'm still doing so with the help of emulators.

I just bought an N64 after so many years of having my other one traded in, and I bought myself a copy of Mariocart 64 as well. When I go back to college (Saturday), ima see what other games the store may have gotten (it's a trade-in store that basically sells every damn console known to man)

I'm so excited!

WHERE did you buy an N64? They sell for HUNDREDS on Amazon!

Ahh, used I assume.

Yup. But it looks fresh and new anyways. I got a bundle pack (console, wires, controller) for just 40 bucks.

The same could honestly be said for the Wii itself. It's a system geared around having fun with friends. People who bash the Wii just don't have any real-life friends to play it with.

This is actually the stupidest thing ever posted on B.net:

Why does everyone hate Halo 2? Maybe its because its the worst game ever next to mario.

I'd rather play a night of Mario Kart 64 or Super Smash Bros. Melee with three of my friends over any Halo game any day. My Wii is hooked up right next to the Box as well.

Get some buddies, throw in some "beverages" and you have an epic night of competitive, addicting fun.

Indeed, ultimately the Wii in my household is only used when we have guests, or during parties. It's rarely used otherwise, i prefer the PC/PS3 but the Wii's still a blast from time to time, enjoyed the Gamecube too, never saw the hate for it.

You, my friend, might just be the only Halo 2 fan I respect as much as I do.

Sonic CD is a pretty good game....

/sega

Still can't get over omega thinking people play Mario for the story.
