After 'meeting' the flood, there is this room which you enter on the highest level, as you enter, marines with shotguns rush in to attack the waiting flood.

I can never save them and am wondering if anyone else has ever managed to save them.

I was able to save one of them, but then when we entered the next room, one of the "nuggets" as i like to to call em killed him. and then i took his shotgun and opened a can of whoopass!!!

Five Tenets of Bungie.net Forum Life:
1. Trolls will always be well fed.
2. Blame-ability thy name is stosh.
3. Bungie has no control over retail prices.
4. Watch out for low-flying defense drones.
5. Seven is not optional, but rather, an inevitability.

I've saved one before, and he just stayed in the room. There was a second occasion where two of them had lived. It seemed that they hadn't left the platform they jump down from.

I can only save one. Once, one of them survived by staying in the hallway before they jumped down. It was really weird. But they act all crazy and scared andjust run around the room. And I dont even know why they would jump into a room full of flood.

I've managed to save two Marines to the end of the level on two seperate occasions. You just gotta stay with them.

Ive saved all of them...but only managed it once. I used the Active Camo to get in there and with a AR and Shotgun, killed off all the little Flood first...then using myself as a shield killed the big'uns.

They aint of much use though anyway...they get killed shortly afterwards just because you cant be everywhere at once.

I was lost after finding the Flood and found myself under a holobridge when i saw a man with shotgun shooting a load of 'em. I saved him, hoping he'd come with me. For some reason, he stood dumb! Ungrateful...

I haven't saved any as of yet... But take a notice of something though. When you meet up with the Marines at the end of the level in single or co-op.(I did it in single player.) sometimes Johnson is with them, but when we fight he's always the first to die though.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

i don't bother, the way i look at marines in halo is as cheap ammo supply. the shotty is the best weapon against the flood, and as soon as one of those poor bastards drop one it puts me in overdrive.

and on a sidenote, i've seen many posts saying that people always see johnson die, just cause he's black doesn't mean he's johnson. did he have the sargeant badge on his hat?? just wanted to put that out there.

  • 03.21.2006 1:44 PM PDT

youre right about the sarge thing. But how can you only save 2 marines at the end? Last few times i did it, only 2 died! I had like 10 left...O aND THEYRE REALLY DUMB..

marine kills popcorn flood:
Marine-hey i recognize that one that was bob!
It was a friggin popping flood! It couldnt be a person!

Marine shoots combat flood with plasma rifle:
Marine-Need some more A.M.M.O.!
He shot it with a plasma rifle, and the flood didnt have a weapon. Plasma guns dont have ammo

Even with the scared marines in the building....

Is it just me, or are these marines very very stupid?

They usually say i rocognize that one as bob when they kill a combat form or their in close proximity to a dead combat form.

I tried to save the marines inside too, like 10 times and all died somehow. Out side i saved two marines with shotguns and no helmats and no metal plates. I dont know how i did it but I was very happy. Idk if they would survive after I get teleported to the library though.

I like to pretend that after you get teleported away, Foehammer picks up the Marines you save and they go back to Alpha Base and live happily ever after. At least until Halo blows up that is...

i can save them all on heroic here are the steps i use
1. throw a lot of frag grenades
2. have shotgun and ar and kill the rest
3. save the marines who are in total panic of what they've seen happen to their fellow marines
4. go take them to evac get teleported away and foehammer picks up the survivors....
its not like she just leaves them there.

Plus the Sentinels deal with the Flood that is left behind...then you and them teleport away.

The Marines would have been fine...until the unfortunate incident of blowing the ring world up.
