whats bad about this?
yorkie
It's blatant flamebait. The framing of the question makes the implication rather more explicit than implicit, and that implication would, under the eyes of any sane and/or competent moderator, be locked immediately for obvious reasons.

It is, however, forgivable on the benefit of the doubt. Less forgivable evidence of failures abound

The PM system is cool.
Doesnt really help when no one's online. I thought moderation revolved around dealing with current events, not detective work and nailing people 2 days after that the violation has taken place. The latter has to be the worst possible form of moderation, it's only pissing people of and adds to the problems.

Racism isn't wrong if it's funny.

The initial topic is fine, it's just the people can't be civil while debating.

I saw that a Master Forum Ninja was online in this forum an hour or two ago so I PM'd him (only cuz I have no proof Yoozel is on ATM). So hopefully all this will be resolved or we'll get an answer soon enough.

But haven't you heard, Batzter? 24 hours or more is a perfectly reasonable amount of time for a moderator to take to respond to disruption, and if you think that's too long then obviously you need to review the priorities of your otherwise meaningless life.

Yeah, I agree that bungie.net could do with some more mods but that isn't our decision to make. I just try to make the best out of what we have going right now.

A day or two is fine. Three months however is not.

You could say that the thread was dead for two months but that just brings up even more crap as then it got bumped and I know having a dead thread revived isn't exactly something the mods want happened, especially if it's flame bait.

Did you ever PM a Ninja about it?

  • 08.16.2011 4:41 PM PDT

As if that would help. I PM'ed mods before, they did nothing.

Only after we ban Bricypoo.

I hope you know it isn't against the rules. Creation vs. Evolution arguments are considered as scientific discussions.

Not religious discussion

I may be wrong but I am pretty sure.

Honestly a day or 2 isn't that bad. You can just stop replying to someone who is blatantly flaming you, it's not complicated. People on this site just have to stop taking things so seriously.

Every time I PM'd a mod they have done something about it. Not saying that you're lying, just in my experiences it has gone differently.

Only if your definition of science was developed in the fourth century BCE.

Rarity FTW

I love the Flood forum. It's my favorite on this website. I have to agree that it definitely requires the most mod attention though.

I never said what my definition of "science was". But in general "scientists" do not call it religious discussion. It is scientific discussions.

You are absolutely correct. Forum Ninjas do absolutely nothing ever not ever not even a little bit nope.

Except in reality it isn't. Sure, it can be, but that's a no true scotsman of the worst kind, and if the discussion were bound purely to the realms of logic and rationality, it would be dealt with inside of two posts. Creationism has no roots in science. It is, at best, philosophy (which b.net is no good at discussing) and is, in general, pure faith, which we all know has no place being discussed in public here.

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

The users on the Flood are not scientist.

If anything people on the Flood need to report more.

OP, use the report tools or PM an online mod. Those are you two best ways to combat rule breaking posts.

[*Please note that anything in my posts is likely to be filled with sarcasm, and should be taken with a pinch of salt. I tend to help people, usually*]

There's worse stuff in the Flood than a redundant discussion about the Universe.

For example, I happened to see an animal-abuse thread (free video included!) that was fast-approaching a hot-topic which I went to the effort of contacting a few Mods about. Got dealt with before Underdog could mosey on into the thread, so it's not like they aren't watching the Flood.

Yeah, I agree that bungie.net could do with some more mods but that isn't our decision to make. I just try to make the best out of what we have going right now.

I think that the actual size of moderating staff of the site is fine. What is needed is more moderators in different varying timezones. Then at least there is less chance of bulk moderation at one time and almost none another time.

I'm going to throw this opinion out.
The report button is near enough redundant in 'The Flood' forum. In a forum full of trolls and a place really designed for "anything else", I doubt anyone who frequents it will report. So it is near enough entirely up to the moderators themselves, who have a whole site full of forums to look after, to scour 'The Flood' (which is probably the fastest moving forum) and find threads breaking the rules.

Some threads aren't as clear as others when it comes to rule breaking. Since the rules are now based on moderator discretion, threads like the one posted here lie in a gray area since, the OP did say "Don't bring religion into this." However, that's like telling a child "don't you press that button". So give the moderating team a little break. Eventually they will get to it.......Eventually

  • 08.16.2011 5:12 PM PDT

Yes, there're too many numbers in my name.

The moderators don't have a responsibility, they have an ability. An ability to ban users and lock threads.

And given their high authority, they choose whether to use that ability or not.

  • 08.16.2011 5:15 PM PDT

I think signatures are stupid....Oh wait...

You say you weren't trying to start a flame war? What about your latest thread on the Flood "Zelda is so racist" really, bringing race into it is an instant flame war. I think you are just a troll trying to get attention. You are the type of people who ruin the Flood
