It took me a great amount of test playing and brainstorming to perfect this Halo 3 MLG remake in CE. I think I did a good job, so check out the video and leave a like before downloading!

You must have the Halo Demo for Mac or PC to play this, installation instructions are included in the download. I may use either Queen Anne's Revenge or Harbinger or some other program to port this map file to the full version or Custom Edition, depending on the feedback I get!

Check it out and lemee know what you think :)

Hey,

Good work, I've never played Halo 3 on the xbox 360 so I'm not going to comment on the realism. But just one thing, is this for CE or trail, or for both? (By CE I mean Custom Edition of course).

Most people who play the trial are children (I'm serious) and don't know how to lead shots. If they think this will be exactly like the Halo 3 Xbox experience then they will be horribly mistaken.

Halo CE is always the better choice for modding, most guys there have at least a bit of skill and are computer literate. By that I mean custom map placement, shot leading, and so forth.

One last thing, the netcode in Halo Trial is dire, even worse that that on Halo PC. Halo CE has the best netcode of all so developing maps for that is always the best choice.

Good luck, I hope you gain support

I didn't understand why you wanted to dumb it down by increasing the hitboxes to try and emulate Halo 3/Reach. PC games generally have smaller hitboxes thanks to the mouse allowing for far greater accuracy.

Having said that, it looked as though your change to strafing intertia in combination with the increased movement speed could produce some horrible gameplay. It'd be a nightmare to lead.

This is for trial, but there are apps (I have seen several) that allow you to port trial maps to Custom Edition and vice versa, so I might look into that.

And yeah I know =P I play the CE demo more than Reach nowadays but necessity is the mother of learning, so I've learned to work with lag up to about 160 ping and still do well. It's possible, but I definitely see your point.

Thanks :)

Well like I said the map is more or less designed for LAN and clan matches, which in my experience, have always had a little better connection than just some random dude hosting while running 50 apps in the background, downloading music, and uploading a video to youtube all simultaneously (seriously, some servers play with so much lag, I can only imagine what the host is doing lol). Depending on the feedback I get, I could always revert the strafing inertia back to normal, or keep it in the Custom Edition port where leading a target isn't as much of a concern.

I like the work you've done with this, though I do hate Blood Gulch. (Mainly due to how many times I've played it over the course of 10 years) but overall it looks pretty good.

What I'm really interested in is seeing a series of maps being released that are completely joiner friendly and have minor changes to them for a more competitive feel. I'd want it not to simulate other Halos and just try to make Halo: Combat Evolved its self a better experience....

Then again, why am I posting about that in your thread and not making it?.... Looks like I might have something to do!

When people talk about halo here it's always.

Halo PC (Halo Combat Evolved on PC)
Halo CE (Halo Custom Edition)
Halo Trial (Halo Demo)

Sorry, I'm just a bit confused to what you're talking about.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Nice. That was nice.

Halo 3

Cool. But the mauler's damage should revert back to normal for the smaller maps.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Normal as in the built-in BXR that the Halo 2oobs loved?

Just so you're aware, the map conversion tool Harbinger is CE to HPC. To get it into CE, you'd have to rip and retag everything into the globals and new scenario tag.

If you own a legit, non-pirated Halo PC CD key, then why are you modding the Trial of the game? Especially if you're considering to have multiple game versions. Doesn't make much sense to me.

[Mean]
Sorry to say, but there isn't a real point trying to make Halo 3 Mods in Halo Demo\Trial, PC or CE. Anyone can do them, especially since the bitmap and model extraction tool 'Xtraction' was released. After all, it was used to rip the weapons you're using in you're trial mod.
[/Mean]

If you feel what I've said isn't very helpful, want to learn a bit more about modding or want learn how to use CE tools, then please contact me via xfire: isceny.
