Subject: Who thinks halo 4 will be bad because 343 will be making it?

I like to play Halo Reach. I kick ass!

If you think it will be bad, youre stupid cause 343 is mainly bungie staff.

"On the seventh day, god did not rest, but rather he created 64 player multiplayer!"

Actually, it isn't. As Achronos has tirelessly stated multiple times, you can count the number of ex-Bungie devs at 343 on one hand.

Either way, I think 343 will be good for Halo.

You are an idiot.

This^ but also, I think it'll be bad because 343 won't put their heart into it like Bungie did. I, of course, could be completely wrong and they could pour themselves into making a game worthy of the Halo franchise. Either way, we'll see in a year.

I think it could go either way, 343i is constantly disappointing me, but then they keep doing small things to redeem themselfs.

All I want is the some resemblance to the story I fell in love with 10 years ago and to not have some cheesy mega-universe ending super-species a la Mass Effect. (Flood wasn't universe ending IMO, nor were they super-species....-blam- parasitic -blam-...)

Name the people who work at 343i from Bungie that you know.

Who are they? Who were they at Bungie? What makes them important to Halo?

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

Walk softly, and carry a big midget.

There are only 5 Bungie Employees at 343.

I don't think it'll be bad, but from playing the previous Halo games I have high expectations of the game itself.

This is extreme stupidity to judge simply because you have no idea who and what kind of people are in 343i.

I intend to live forever, or die trying,

so far, so good.

I hope they do as good a job as Bungie, if they do half as good a job, it will be a great game, if they do a better job, then that is great.

Thank you Bungie for 10 great years of Halo.

This

But having just a handfull of ex-Bungie doesn't matter to be honest. They still have Frankie and some other dudes. In the end its best its not made up from mostly Bungie guys, because then nothing would change anyways.

Now they just have a handfull of ex-Bungie employees working with art and game directors from EA, Guerilla, Pandemic, Gearbox. Composers from Kojima (MGS/Castlevania) and much more.
In the end, the team at 343i is just as talented as any other big name dev out there.

Plus: so far, 343i has shown to put more heart and soul into their work than Bungie has over the past 2 years or so. Bungie already had their minds set on something else, 343i on Halo.

They are going to deliver the goods.

Fixed.

Gwestwood

Hey guys, Bungie wouldn't let something as close to them as the halo franchise fall into the hands of a crappy game developer, im 99% sure that 343, will be up to the task of making a new halo trilogy

I did some research:

People I know from Bungie who are at 343i:

Frank O'Connor [Frankie]
2003-2008
Full Time
Bungie's "Face" between 2003 and 2008 - wrote articles Bungie.net about Halo 2/3, and answered questions about Bungie and Halo to the press.

Now the Franchise Development Director at 343i.
Chad Armstrong [Shishka]
2004-2007, 2008-2010
Contract/Full-Time
Long-term contract worker from 2004 who worked on marketing material, Halo 2's attract (menu) video. He left Bungie in 2007 to join Certain Affinity. Then returned to Bungie in 2008 as a Playlist Designer. Then in 2010 he was suddenly no longer a part of Bungie.

343i picked him up as a "Designer".
Vic DeLeon
~2004-2010
Full Time
Environment Artist at Bungie working since Halo 2 up until Halo Reach. Is an all around cool guy. I've met Vic a couple times and he's a really genuine guy.

He's currently a Lead Mission Artist at 343i.
Matthew Burns
~2007-2009
Full Time
Producer at Bungie for Halo 3 and ODST.

Now Contract Producer at 343i.
Greg Snook
~2004-2007
Full Time
Programmer at Bungie. Worked on Halo 2 and Halo 3.

Now Lead Animation Programmer at 343i.
Justin Yorke
Full Time
Server Engineer at Bungie.

Now Software Design Engineer at 343i.
Carlos N.
Full Time
Associate Producer at Bungie.

Now Content Coordinator at 343i.
Patrick Gillette
2009-2010
Contractor
Contract Animator for Bungie from 2009 until 2010.

Now Contract Animator for 343i.
Jesse Hall
Contractor
Contract 3D Artist at Bungie.

Now Contract Environment artist at 343i.
Will Christiansen
Contractor
Contract Animator for Bungie.

Became Contract Animator for 343i.
Now full-time Animator for 343i.
Donnie Taylor
Contractor
Contract Artist at Bungie.

Now Environment Artist at 343i.
Dan Callan
Contractor
Tester at Bungie.

Now Mission Designer at 343i.
Eric K.
Contractor
Tester at Bungie.

Now tester at 343i.
*All found on LinkedIn

Out of the 13 people listed above, there are 6 contractors listed.

That's 7 full-time people from Bungie.

Worked on Halo 2? That's 4.

How many of that 4 worked directly on the game's content (and not marketing)? That's 2; Vic DeLeon and Greg Snook.

There are 70+ people working at 343 Industries. 2 prominent Bungie employees is only 2.85% of the whole company.

Whilst that is a sizable list, bear in mind that a lot of these guys were not at Bungie for very long (and certainly none of them worked on Halo 1) and those who were weren't all in-game content creators.

I'd personally say only Vic DeLeon and Greg Snook are the only two guys from Bungie at 343i currently, on that list, that were at Bungie long enough to actually make a sizable impact on the series.

In conclusion, no, there aren't "mainly Bungie staff" but there are, at least, a few people that 343i have picked up who have done something at Bungie over the years. Prominent or important? Not as much as you'd think.

Bacon

343 will probably make a better job with Halo 4 the bungie ever could have. Bungie has let me down to much and therefore I believe 343 is the best that can happen to halo right now.
Halo needs a set of new fresh developers.

Please don't send me PMs about your Bungie group. I don't care.

I hear you BTW, Kat is the worst AI I have ever had in my turret. The Elite who hi-jacked her was better!

I won't say they it will be bad. But I am worried that it won't have the "Halo" feel. I trust Frankie and his staff enough to make a good game. And I guess we will get a taste of it once CEA comes out in November. But until I see more of Halo 4, I am concerned.

You're a bit misguided. 343 is made up of as many Bungie staff as I could count on one hand.
I don't see why everybody is saying 343 doesn't have the same appeal as Bungie, because any developer could do what Bungie did without any trouble.
I've honestly been wondering whether or not Bungie has gotten LUCKY with the way they developed their games, looking at Reach where their luck ran short.

Didact's Reprisal -
Now is the time of our unworlding
One final effort is all that remains
And I am not afraid
We shall fulfill our promise
We fight for the grace of the Mantle
And this time none of you will be left behind

I don't think it'll actually matter how great the game is (in terms of how people will react) as long as it's slightly good.

I think since 343 is new and has a separate mentality from Bungie, people will give them the benefit of the doubt and lower that bar of expectations that has always been straddling Bungie's chin.

..Meaning that the majority will be more forgiving towards 343's mistakes, as opposed to flooding the forums for weeks on end on Bungie forums for each tiny flaw people come across.

I already hate Halo 4 because 343 feels the need to switch already established stuff and just give it a whole new retarded art style.

I don't get why they feel the need to keep going back to the Halo Wars Spartans since those were just the works of artistic licensing.
