Man, too bad you guys dont hire some one who actually plays video games with an in depth perception into what actually makes a FPS video game good. You really should hire someone who loves H1 and has played in nationally competitive tourneys. This would help all you old timers, who only know the game tron, look at competitve gaming in a new light. I think you guys at Bugnie got lucky when making H1, as far as how good the multiplayer game was.
H2 would be an average game(sales, reputation) if H1 didn't precede it.
Yet, I am a gamer who plays FPS just for the competition factor, and bungie was not made to just please that "group" of people.

ya uh how do you get lucky with a game?

Map Editor is a BADASS idea. Sharing them online is even better! I remember playing Duke Nukem on a 14.4 kbps dial up modem against my friend in a direct play after trading maps, and that was incredible. i can only imagine inviting multiple friends from across the country to play in a map i made in a matter of seconds (instead of walking the floppy across the street). i repeat BADASS!!! It may be a marketing scheem to get people to buy the Vista version of windows, but it just might be worth a map editor in the Halo world... BADASS

i'm so weak minded....

Are we looking at client side hit detection? PunkBuster support for anti-cheat? A netcode that's actually worth using? Easy map making that doesn't require $1000 programs? Basically, is this going to be what HaloPC and HaloCE should have been? Are we going to have developer support that extends beyond the CEO of the company talking smack? Is the game going to be made with professional gamers in mind, or is it going to be made for 40 year old soccer moms again? Don't let us down Bungie/MS. Don't do it again, please.

Lets disassemble this post *that way I don't blow a gasket*
-PunkBuster: Why should Bungie use a third party for anti-cheating measures? I'm sure that Bungie can develop their own systems. Sure PunkBuster is good, but couldn't Bungie do better?

-Net code: I use the Halo PC net code, big whoptie fin doo. Any good net code is better than any bad net code. The better the net code, the better the online experiance. *NOTE: you will not get blue screened with the PC version of H2... I hope <=)*

-Easy map making: Why should map making be easy? Why should we let 13 year old pre-puberty idiots make horrible maps that just flood out the community? A map needs to have someone with more than a toothpick's worth of sense in their head. $1000? try $3500 for 3ds Max 8... BUT you are paying for what the professionals use to do the 3d meshing, including Bungie themselves. If you want what the pros use, you must pay the pro-price. *unless you’re a student of course =D*

-"Basically, is this going to be what HaloPC and HaloCE should have been?": One word; NO. In more words than one; Halo PC was Halo 1 from the xbox, guess what Halo 2 PC is? That right! Its Halo 2 from the xbox! What a coincidence!

-"Is the game going to be made with professional gamers in mind, or is it going to be made for 40 year old soccer moms again?": WTF? Seriously What the Fudge? I see NOWHERE anything about Halo being for soccer moms. Where did you come up with that idea? Can you please tell us where we may find this "soccer mom" thing?

*Note I left some things out because they were A: Too stupid to reply to. Or B: Leaving it up to the developer team to tell us.

PS: I wonder how many times Bungie, the Maw, and I have to take the Vista stick and beet some people over their heads to make them realize the reasons why Halo 2 has to be for Vista? I also think that Frankie and I can agree the tenacity and ignorance of some people.

Putting Halo 2 on Vista is cool and all but how about making it work on the systems that are out right now... Like the "Next Gen" system that was just released not to long ago, the Xbox 360... maybe you have heard of it. I would like to play Halo 2 on my 360 (which has been replaced under warranty once already) but EVERY time I play on stupid Backwash my s*** goes all FUBAR... like glitchy. Then when I load the map for the next game I can still see Backwash. Everyonce and a while it does this same crap on other levels as well. How can the Xbox 359 be sold as being "backwards compatiable" with a huge bug like this existing? With all the stuff Bungie and Microsoft have brought us you would think that something like this could be fixed before their morning coffee break. The biggest Xbox game, dare I say the biggest game ever is Halo 2. Currently the gaming system with the most hardcore... uh... everything is the 360, don't you want this stuff to work correctly together? The 360 has been out for over 4 months now, that is plenty of time for an update I would think. WTF?

I warn bungie, then, that keeping it windows vista only will really cut produciton. I'm not installing a new OS just for a new game... May i point out that many people will feel the same way. Halo 1 was backwords compatable, why halo2 won't be seems to be specifically to market vista. And if that's the case, alot of us my as well give up on halo. I don't have a 360, i don't have a regular xbox, and now i will point out i have no intention of spending an arm and a leg for either of them, nor do i plan to spend an arm and a leg on vista. I'd first need to spend money on upgrading what i already have hardware wise, then 200 or 300 on vista, then 50 or 60 on halo2 itself? I don't know prices, but i'd say about 200 on hardware *AT LEAST*. that's 350 to 450 (at the very least) just on one game. I'd like to make this apparent to bungie before they do something that'll hurt their budget badly. This reminds me of the morrowind incident. The Elder Scrolls IV was gonna come out for PC, but microsoft demanded it came out on the xbox several months before PC release. Thus why a few people are angry at the delay in the relase. From those rumors, i heard also the release day for the PC version was December 20 somthing... It seems that perhaps Bungie has also been told what to do. And it is quite annoying to think that to play this game i'd have to have over $300 put forth. It's *NOT* worth it.

I think Bungie should of worked on making a Xbox 360 version of Halo 2, PC's are very expensive and especially with this new operating system just expect it to be even more expensive..

Bungie & Microsoft Games could of easily avioded this by making a Xbox 360 version. It would promote the 360's more, plus it would definatly sell, many play it.

I just got a $400 console with a 60 dallor game. Well worth it, I love GR:AW and the 360 is some eles out of this world, but now you guys want me to buy a PC and spend about $1500 atleast.

I know as much about computers as a normal 15 year old and I am only 11.......by the time I am 15 I would probly be almost an expert, but I would still not be old enough for a job >:P.

Your eleven, you havent even passed puberty. You wont be a expert at 15. Its funny how young minds think big things. And for you to be 11 and think something that stupid... wow.

A. If they have Gamespy set up the online mulitplayer, it will probably be server listings and maybe MM but in server listing most people don't cheat because there is nothing to gain (Ex. Halo PC has no cheaters). But you might see them in MM if there is one but it'd be much easier to ban them. By IP and CD-Key.

B. Computer games support servers easier so it's likely Bungie will set up servers just like they had in Halo PC so you won't get blue screened so you don't have to hope at all.

Oh and Vista won't be the only things you need to save up for, You might have to spend about $100-$500 on a graphics card ( Depending on how good you want the graphics to be) if you don't already have a good one because I can assure you it won't run on An Intel 82845G graphics card which is what is customary for a basic computer or close to it, Unless a better one came pre-installed. And maybe a better processer but some can handle it.
The best ones you can buy for a reasonable price at like Best Buy probably are the Radeons.

does anyone care about vista? sure enought i don't. More propaganda for bungie, yipppppi. How about you guys make some games for 360. You guys talk about it like its the best invention ever.. but you guys dont even have a game out. Who cares about vista dammit.. we want 360 games!

That won't happen till they're done making things to sell Vista. Microsoft clearly runs bungie at this point... The objective is to get people to buy systems not games. Games are cheap compared to the systems. Almost everyone who'll get a 360 already has one. But they need something to sell vista, so they'll make things for vista. Microsoft did this with The Elder Scrolls IV, i'm sure they're not afraid to do this with Halo either. I was considering a look at the Bungie openings when i turn 18, but with this whole vista thing, it dosn't appear to be a stable enough job.

this is rediculous i just bought a new computer and now they expect me to pay another 200 for a new os. i bought a good computer and right now it is up to date but a year from now with how technology keeps growing my comp wont support vista. im sick of spendin money and the one thing i enjoy on this comp is halo. i waited patiently for halo 2 when i had my old comp and i bought a new one so i could support the new one that came out but i guess thats not enough. microsoft is just asking for more of our money. for all of you in my situation i say we try to get it compatible for xp. i will find out a way to send a letter to ceo of bungie or microsoft or ssomthing just to get this changed
