No OP. I don't want to go to the lame ass 343 forums to discuss the Bungie made Halo games.
Isn't there a forum rule about being complete rude?
You come on almost everyday with some sort of bash or insult to someone...
Seriously, whats your problem?
Sorry, it's the way I'm used to dealing with the Flood. I sometimes forget when I move from forum to forum which one I'm in. I apologize.
OT: Let me rephrase my statement. I find the whole way that 343 is currently revealing and handling their first venture into the Halo realm very irritating. "Why?", you might ask? Well, for several reasons.
A) I already feel like they are treating it like it's any old game rather than the multi-million dollar cultural phenomenon that it is. They want to toy with it. I understand the reason for this considering that they have to leave their mark but they are literally making it too different.
B) They are not prepared, nor do they have an adequate or easy way, to communicate with the massive fan base that they have inherited.
One of the things that made Bungie's fans so great was the easy access we had to the people who they were fans of and the tight knit community that was built as a result. It's why I'm here talking to you right now.
C) They've lost the magic.
Even on the Halo Universe Panel at San Diego ComicCon 2011, one of 343's new best friends, Greg Bear, talked about the fact that one of the novels he's writing feels like a classic sic-fi novel and that you could literally make it one by just replacing the nouns.
That saddened me.
I thought to myself, "The unique sic-fi game that was Halo has now joined the ranks of other bad sic-fi like Star Wars I - III.
In Short: It breaks my heart to know what they are going to do to our baby. Because it is our baby, and they aren't even in touch with us.
Makes me sad but, what can you do?343 is super in-touch with the fans. They post on the Waypoint forums all the time, and they're also in touch with a bunch of other communities, like Grifball, MLG, and NeoGAF, just to name a few places I've seen them hanging out. And the have a BWU-style Halo Bulletin every Wednesday that's been a pretty good source of info recently (especially today, where they teased some TU info and discussed the CEA remakes). Just because you're not going to the same laces they are doesn't mean they aren't listening.
I'm not going to spend a ton of time arguing about your points about them "losing the magic" of halo, but I think that if you looked a little closer at what they've been doing and kept an open mind, you'd be quite impressed.
Just my $0.02 for the day.
