In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I think warnings are great becuase they tell users they are doing something wrong.

But at the same time, warnings also affect member titles.

I just mean should warnings affect titles?

I have been thinking about this for a while and is that "fair"?

When i think of warnings, I think about a cop pulling over someone for speeding and says I will let you off with a warning, the driver faces no punishment.

But here, it is like the Policeman reported the driver to every policeman on the road and the driver faces points on his license.

What do you think of warnings on Bungie.net.

I think they are fine tools to tell someone something is wrong, usually for new members and just say, don't do it again.

but, should title and trust rating be affected for a warning?

Should is show up on moderation history?

Why care about the titles in the first place?

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

Ken...did you get warned recently?

I notice a lot of people here DO care about titles.

Here they are seen as a way to show your time on this site.

But, I am more concerned with trust ratings and other mods seeing the warnings.

But, should warnings affect anything at all?

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

This isn't a roadway this is bungie.net. We don't even know how trust ratings work, I would assume that warnings don't take away a huge chunk of trust points. That way, you can receive your title faster than if you got off a ban.

Yes, it should affect your title and trust rating, because you were warned for doing something bad. The ninjas don't have to warn you, they could just throw bans everywhere, but they don't.
I don't see why this is even worth making a thread over, this just makes you seem like you care about title bars which are pixels on a game developers community forums.

It has just been something I have been thinking about, I waited a few days to post this so people wouldn't think I was "spamming the community forum" becuase I am not trying to post as much here.

Get rid of warnings and ONLY issue bans. A 3 day ban is your warning to stop screwing up or it'll be 7 (min.) next time.

  • 08.17.2011 6:31 PM PDT

It isn't really a big deal, unless you care about your title too much. Titles really don't do anything, so it's fine.

That sounds like a bad idea to be honest.

I like warnings, they let a forum goer no they are doing things they shouldn't when a simple stop it or a lesson won't fix.

Like posting in all caps, does that deserve a 3 day ban?

ot bumping a thread, does that deserve a ban?

But, should warnings be against you or should we have something along the lines of "infraction points" where if you get enough, you get banned.

The severity of getting the points depends on what you do.

And a warning wouldn't count as a point but as a learning lesson.

But again, this was just an idea.

  • 08.17.2011 6:35 PM PDT

I think they are useful for new users since most of the time they may not understand that they did something wrong in the first place. Instead of just banning them right away, a Ninja uses a warning to show them that what they are doing is not acceptable.

When I started posting on Bungie I unknowingly made a dumb thread and was warned. Never did that -blam!- again.

why do you write

Seriously though... Warnings are good (Though admittedly I usually just get banned) and it's not like titles even mean anything - albeit Ninja titles do, obviously.

I'm not sure to what extent the titles are affected by warnings but if they're stripping a person of a prefix that took three years to get then it's more of a punishment than just a pointer.

So no, I don't think warnings should affect titles and prefixes.

I type like that so people have an easier time to read, so my posts are not intimidating walls of text.

But warnings are good but should they work against you or just be like just saying don't do it again and nothing else happens.

but I also know a mod seeing a warning a few days/week after getting it and you do something bad, a ban is likely even if the punishable act is to related to the warning.

This would be nice. I mean back in my day we didn't even get bans, the moderators came to our house personally, kidnapped us and left us in the middle of the Mojave with pepper spray still stinging our eyes.

Erm, that's sorta how the system works now dude.

You're a new user, you get warned for something, a rule you might not be familiar with, you learn what you did wrong and if you do it again you get a ban.

And weren't you against that very system in the OP?

Yeah but I was suggesting points as multiple punishments are tallied up based on severity in a cleaner way so that people who commit maybe 2-3 low level offences, they aren't hit with a heavy ban.

Either way it was just an idea. :p

Alright, I disagree.. to be honest.

This is about your personal experience with a recent warning and loss of member title. It's gun b k.

Like posting in all caps, does that deserve a 3 day ban?Or, they could just lock it. Read the rules or expect a ban.

ot bumping a thread, does that deserve a ban?
See above.

Wat

The severity of getting the points depends on what you do.
The severity of your ban depends on what you do. See: current system

And a warning wouldn't count as a point but as a learning lesson.
You've had plenty of lessons. They aren't working.

But again, this was just an idea.
This is a true statement. It indeed was an idea.

I do think we should focus right now on coming up with possible proactive measures against maliciously inclined users, though, instead of cracking down on those who sometimes go too far.

Icwutudidthar.

OT: Why not?
Evidently you care about your title. That's fine.
Aren't warnings more effective to you?
You don't want to get a warning because you don't want to lose your title.

If you didn't fear warnings for that reason, might you post with the mindset of, "...This is only worth a warning anyway." ?

I was the 2nd to last person to get kicked off Halo 2, see the thread Here

Warnings shouldn't affect member titles. Because of the fact that warnings do affect member titles, it's really not a "warning" at all because you're being punished.
