Metal breakfast.

Does anyone know how the "Oracle" came in contact with the leader of the Heretics? And how was the Flood released (in Halo 2)?

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

343 Guilty Spark had been floating in the void of space for some days (not sure if some days or hours) when he was found by the retrieving teams sent to search for any survivor/artifact, that's how they came in contact with him.

The flood was released because the Gravemind was able to corrupt Penitent Tangent, letting him get control of the teleportation grid on the ring, then, he used the marines as hosts, using the Forward into Dawn to leave the ring, getting to High Charity with a slipspace jump.

All we know about that is:

Revolution 56-11.337: Well, my judgment seems to have failed me for once. The Reclaimer has initiated a reaction in the engine system of a very dirty spacecraft. Data suggests it will destroy Installation 04 utterly. I believe discretion might be the better part of valor. I have attempted to fulfill my responsibilities to the best of my ability.

Revolution eta-condition: Well, everything is in a terrible state. The installation is ruined. I am stuck here in the middle of nowhere with only impulse propulsion, and the only good news is that the Flood breach has been halted, albeit inelegantly.

Detail Installation 4 destroyed/nuclear
reaction/Flood containment achieved by Reclaimer

Revolution eta-condition: Excellent! I believe I see assistance approaching...<ends>

As for

And how was the Flood released (in Halo 2)?

Isn't the Flood released earlier? During the Arbiter mission when he chases after the Heretic leader and the Flood is released as well?

1. He likely flew or teleported out of the blast zone when the ring blew up. Went to the local gas mine as that's the only other forerunner installation that we know of that's nearby. He then met the covenant forces on it, talked to them, managed to convince them of halos true purpose. EDIT Conv. From the universe said he had an impulse drive. He likely used that to escape.

2. Talking about gas mine flood or 05 flood?

Gas Mine: General covenant/heretic dicking around.

05: Released a while before the covenant and the in amber clad arrived. Installations moniter was lax, flood got released, monitor went rampant, gravemind formed.

Ah ok. Thank you for the clarification.

The Oracle a.k.a. Guilty Spark flew from Halo to thr gas mine on Threshold at the end of Halo 1. This is where the Heretics happened to end up staying. So they just sort of met there.
This next information I am not sure about, I can't remember where I got it from. Unlike in Halo 1, the Flood were roaming free on Halo before the humans or Covenant got there. The only reason they were free was due to poor maintenance on Pentinent Tangent's part. He was the red monitor AI in Halo 2. Anyway, something wasn't functioning properly at some Flood holding cell thing. I think it was at the place Cold Storage is set at in Halo 3. Tangent, possibly due to rampancy, neglected his duties and didn't fix the problem. Eventually it got worse and the Sentinels ended up being deployed to fight them. That is what you see during the Sacred Icon and Quarantine Zone levels.
