Subject: Halo CE Anniversary? Good or bad?

Albert Einstein - " there are only three things that are infinite. One is time, one is space, and the other is the amount of wild zubats in a dark cave"

So, the time of halo anniversary is almost upon us...
Do you think it is really a good idea, I mean of course it will be interesting to compare but do you not think that it is slightly for money making purposes?

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Er... It's the tenth anniversary for Halo, people have been screaming for a HD version of Halo CE for ages and it's not just the same game, we get:
- Remastered graphics, audio and gameplay
- Achievements
- XBL co-op
- 6 new multiplayer maps, technically 12 because there are different versions of them
- 1 Firefight map
- Terminals
- New Easter Eggs

It's not a game designed simply as a "money maker" when they've priced the game at £30/$40, it's a gift to the fans for 10 years of Halo.

All doubt should be gone...

I do not think it is for money making purposes, in the interviews, people from 343 have constantly said it is a "gift to the fans". Obviously you will be less excited about the game if you didn't play the original Halo CE, but i am super excited, as it was the first game i played, so i am super excited, The only thing im not so pleased about is that it will not include the original multiplayer from Halo CE, and will instead just add a few (but sweet) maps to the Halo reach multiplayer experience, but obviously most people are buying the game for the sweet single player campaign, and the new Xbox live co-op X)

I never felt as if it was just for mone

Edit: To the guy above, they are adding a classic playlist that will let you relive the CE days of multiplayer(to an extent)

Thats cool, but you know its not REALLY the same, the feeling of the overpowered pistol in multiplayer cant really be recreated in reach X)

I currently am working on Halo Wars achievements. 4 to go.
I currently am working on Halo 2 achievements.
I currently have all Halo 3 achievements.
I currently have all Halo 3:ODST achievements.
I currently have all Halo: Reach achievements.

Its perfect. All I've wanted was Halo 1 with updated graphics. I'm getting that and more. It's better then good. Its a nerdy dream come true.

Yeah Ive also been a big halo fan for a long time, I guess Im just more devoted to bungie than 343 as they havent proven how good they are yet, although I did think that the defiant and noble maps were very good and they were both made by 343

I agree, but for me i wish the could have update the gameplay slightly, maybye just adding a few weapons for example, what do you think???

Yeah that would be a cool idea, like weapons that they scrapped for halo CE and also do you think a halo 2 remake would be any good?

Good question, i don't think that Halo 2 had the same kind of "shock" that the first Halo game did, I mean, effectively Halo CE was the game that put the xbox on the map, and therefore i think that Halo Ce will have brighter memories for halo fans than the second halo did(i hope that makes sense) But i would love to see a reboot of the Halo 2 multiplayer, it was amazing. So in conclusion, i dont think it will ever be made.

I suppose but I did read an interview in last months xbox
magazine that hinted at a halo 2 remake which would like you say be good on the multiplayer side of things

REALLY, do you have the URL for the interview?????

No but I will look for it in a second

Shameless plug for my blog:

Check it!

It would have been awesome if they had done a double-feature, rebooting both Halo CE and Halo 2 on one disk. I would play a remastered, HD version of Halo 2's campaign on a permanent cycle; I adored the campaign and the only reason I don't play as much these days is incompatibility with the new dashboard; if it had compatibility and HD graphics to boot (along with, I'm assuming a whole mess of Halo 2 maps for Reach), I would instantly pay 3x the cost of a AAA title.

Honestly, the ONLY bad thing about Halo CE Aniversary is the glaring impossibility of an HD reboot of Halo 2 coming out in the future.

Sadface? Yeah...sadface.

Aren't gifts usually free?..hehe no I don't think it's a "money grabber" necessarily but I've never really pined over a remake of the game it's fine the way it is sure online multiplayer would've been awesome but I think they're kind taking away from the original experience..

  • 08.18.2011 8:46 AM PDT

Walk by faith. Dude. Not by sight.

It is totally to make money. Should be good fun, though. Playing Halo CE to get achievements! Plus the new maps for Reach!

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

I find this question to be very unnecessary and pretty stupid. HCEA will be practically identical to the original game with updated graphics. Now, ask that question again and see if it comes off as stupid to you. Now, is it a good idea? Of course. Now we have achievements, terminals, co-op over XBL, and new old maps on top of the updated graphics. Still, I think the question is obvious and stupid to ask.

I would just like to correct one thing, Frankie actually answered my question at the Halo Panel during this years Comic Con and stated that the Easter Eggs, while leaving the originals - they just added some tweaks to them.

But than again, he said they're Easter Eggs and couldn't fully say whether or not there will be new ones.

Yes but is that reason enough to purchase this game?...
for a few lousy extra achievements big deal if those are the only selling points I just can't justify buying a game I already own.......

Did they talk about the original multiplayer being playable via LAN?

How about I hammer your asshole.

Fantastic idea. I want to relieve all those hours on lost cartographer in delicious HD glory.

I really want this game to be great! Even though I'm rather new to Halo, I think it'll be good to relieve the glory days of Halo.

Then don't buy it. Other reason is 6 anniversary maps (12 since it has two variants of classic and extended) and flood firefight map. (yes, its confirmed as they tweaked something in base code that bungie were unable to and they said its new innovation in firefight which it is naturally two things: new AIs or Flood.)

Also, you get skulls in campaign, and few lousy achievements... wrong. Since it is full game, it means it will have lot of achievements to work like Reach or Halo 3 or ODST or Halo Wars. Co-Op XBL is good as well!

I've beat the original plenty of times and don't care for graphics. I'll wait until it's $5.
