Subject: Why the Halo1 flood are better than Halo2 Flood

Most of the people who played Halo CE first notice that the flood almost scared you to death in halo CE. They would swarm you in large numbers, come back to life for no reason, and were almost impossible to kill. Then they got wepons, and the popcorn guys came into play. The little ones would stick to you until you died, and they ould actually come up to you and melee you in the face. they jumped high into the air to get you.
They would jump down from high areas or come out of corners just to scare you. They could melee you with force. They actually presented somewhat of a threat, because they COULD kill you, and you needed to TRY to kill them. And they were everywhere. They came out of nowhere and everywhere at once. They coudln't be stopped. The covenant always lost to them.

In Halo2, you expected them. You weren't afraid. Almost every weapon could kill them easily. Your allies were helpless and useless. The small ones took away like an 8th of your shields, then killed you by jumping into you in one hit. The large ones would stand there and not waddle up to you. The combat forms drove vehicles and turrets, and had weak wepons. They had weak melees and came in few numbers. If you had Elites, they could get a shotgun and wipe them out in one shot. They didnt wait in corners but out in the open. They were boring, repetitive, and easy to kill. They coudlnt come back to life unles a small one entered them. You could run throught them all without dieing, and had vehicles to back you up. You knew what you had to do, and could just use camo instead of fighting, and you couldn't get lost. Good wepons were nearly everywhere, so you couldnt get desperate.

This is MY opnion, and possibly the opinion of many others. I dont care if you flame me, but just try to do it witfully, not like a stupid person.

If you disagree, point it out. Criticism is welcomed.

The only thing I really disliked about Flood in Halo 2 was that they looked too shiny.

I can't say I noticed much difference in the AI.

i did. Halo2 flood didnt wait quietly. They limped along, showing you that they were there. Not too smart for an ambush.

The REAL Master Chief

The flood were more fun to kill in halo 1 for me because the shotgun was better, they had no shields, and they were not shiny.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

i think you should try the game on legendary, they are a little tougher and charge at you quite frequently once they see you. i agree that they've lost the whole "holly crap what the hell is that" appeal but thats just cause there not new anymore, but there still fun, and seeing the infection forms reanimate fallen combate forms freaked me the hell out man.

I liked the surprise that I felt when I noticed that the infection forms were reanimating combat forms that I had "killed".

I thought that was brilliant.

And all that screaming and thrasing around that they make when they do that...

*shudders*

The only reason Halo 2 flood are easier is because of your weapon choices.. If you can't seem to find a sword or a shotgun, battle rifles, carbines, and magnums can kill them in 1-3 shots on Legendary if you have decent aim.

In Halo CE the pistol was the only weapon you could really get headshots with on anything, and as far as I can remember you couldn't get them on Flood.

Yes, you can in Halo 2.. Once you go and look at a dead flood, you can find it's head. OR, if it has no weapon, shoot it's strong arm off and look for the headshot spot (when there's a dot in the middle of the retical).

The human-like flood's heads are hanging off to the side, and the Elite-like flood habe their heads folded backwars, but they have a big hole in their neck that counts as a headshot.. One, maybe two shots with a battle rifle, or one to five with a carbine can kill any flood.

As far as offline play it's easy.. Legendary or not, there's an easy way to kill just about any unit.. The only thing I have trouble with is Regret.

Elites, you can use a plasma pistol and a battle rifle, carbine. (charge with pistol then shoot in the head.. Often referred to as a noob tactic but w/e).

Grunts, jackals and drones just take one headshot, drones usually harder to hit.

Brutes, take 2-4 headshots (when they're wearing a helmet).

Hunters can take 1-2 shots in the side with a sniper rifle, beam rifle, or shotgun.. And if you can't manage to find one of those all you have to do is run circles around them and shoot them in the back.

I think that covers anything.. Sorry about the long, off-topic ramble. (:

The infection forms in H2 are a tad harder to hit because they are smarter and will run backwards and then suddenly jump at you, or scitter away undersomewhere until you forget about it, then come out. It is a shame that they don't "Flood" you as much as they used to, but that is the limitations of the game engine and xbox, not an intended flaw.

It does bug me that the Flood are pretty easy to kill. To rip off their limbs takes 3 or so shots from a carbine, but that is unnessecary since you can simply "pop" the infection form that nestles in the chest. Instantly disabling the combat form (although this method leaves it completely unharmed, free to be ressurrected)

But then again, remember the Library on H1? Remember how it was fire and forget with the shotgun in about every encounter? The Flood of H2 are stronger now. They also employ a couple new tactics, although not many. Depending on the circumstances, they'll retreat and duck behind corners. I think the H1's were scarier in the sense that when a flood elite started waving its arms outstretched in your direction and suddenly started charging, that was much scarier than the flood elites of h2 who run at you, but keep their arms stretched outwards horizontally.

I think its cool that they drive all the vehicles except the spectre and banshee, that was a nice addition. And they use all the weapons except the FRG (yes theres exactly one that uses the brute shot on high charity) unfortunately the sword is always in supply or theres a carbine or shotty, and any of those makes short work of the flood.

If you don't got it, you want it. If you got it, you want more of it. Of course if you don't know what it is, it's hard to get any in the first place.

I have to say, the one real thing I've always hated about the flood is that Bungie always makes it so easy to fight them.

How about instead of Giving us the Super-Shotty and Pistol in Halo 1, you make us fight down and dirty with The Assault Rifle and Plasma weapons?

In Halo 2, Instead of giving us a Sword or a shotgun everytime you encounter the flood, how about you give us SMGs, and Magnums.

Or at least make us worry about Ammo. I never ever have had to worry about ammo when fighting the flood. You always know your going to run across a shotgun, or a pistol, or a sword at some point. Some of my most tense moments in Halo 1 involved hosing down combat forms with the assault rifle, and using almost ever bullet I had.

I agree... and while on that note...

I often shoot there arms off .... (Cause thats how they harm you...)

doing this causes the fallowing to happen

1. If you do this to a corps, the infection form will pass it like bad meat...

2. If you do it to a “living” one... it will start limping slowly to you... and

a. Explode and disintegrate...with the infection form coming out... looking for a new host

b. Destroy its self completely ( Oops on the infection forms side)
