Thanks alot, Fatmat. I already knew how to do the commands, lists, and such, but I didn't know how to forward my ports and stuff like that.

Just a heads up to anyone that has AOL 9.0 security edition, it comes with a neat little program called port magic. Its real easy to use and it will take care of all your ports for you if your behind a router.I use it with no problems. You get a little pop-up that tells you what program is opening ports and askes you if you want to open them or not.No need to do any configuring of your ports or setting up a static ip. Real simple.

Hmm... no I don't think so. I don't recall it asking me for my CD-key when I was installing Halo Dedicated Server.

Of course not. Otherwise it would have asked me for a CD-key when I installed the Dedicated Server.

Can anyone here tell me how I make my server say things during the game? I know it can be done, I've seen it on several other servers.

Eh?

Are you sure you're not talking about Halo Custom Edition?

  • 08.05.2006 12:26 PM PDT

No.

Yes, custom edition. I didn't realize you couldn't do that in PC seeing as how I only play CE.

That's because you can't do it on the vanilla version of Halo PC.

What about some troubleshooting tips? For instance, when I tried to set up the server program, it appeared to install correctly, but when I attempt to run it, it says that the application is missing a file from the desktop.

Or maybe I'm just an idjit. I dunno which.

Put the server name in quotes and you should be able to get multiple words

Example: sv_name "Bungie.net Maw Server"

Oh and Kim he probably used the Search feature and found this post so he responded to it. Better then creating a new post which will get buried, now the answer is here for everyone to see

How do you run two servers on one connection?
I have had one working fine for almost a year but I cannot get two online at one time unless I am using the same pc.
I have two PCs setup to run it one has internal IP 192.168.1.100:2302 (which works fine)
The other is 192.168.1.151:2306 (which will, not work)
I have forwarded the ports for both 100 and 151 but I cannot get it to work on two PCs at one time.

Any ideas?

I have a question on dedicated servers:

Do you need two computers to run a dedicated server? Why can't I just use my computer that also runs Halo, to run my DS?

And also, even if it needs another PC, how the heck am I going to go to Start-Programs-Microsoft Games-then Halo, if my "other" PC (I don't have another PC anyways) doesn't have Halo installed?
