There's a search feature for a reason. People will find it through that instead of through your bumps.

He is trying for a sticky thread man... so what if he bumped it.

Anyways question...

I play halo on a LAN at work... we cannot connect to the internet for online play. We stick with LAN games... anyways I was wondering if this would work for us. See I host the games and they join through our LAN. Well I seem to have a HUGE host advantage and they get lag out the balls. Now keep in mind we also play unreal tournament 2004 on our network with flying colors.... no lag what-so-ever.

So my question is will this dedicated server fix the lag issues for my buddies? Will it work on our LAN? or is there something else that can be done in order to make it a more fair game.

Because at this point its like having host on Halo 2 on XBL...

Hello, I just got Halo CE and I wanted to ask a question about the dedicated server. Is there a way to make the server do a command "sv_say MESSAGE" when a user comes in? Thanks in advance.

No, sorry. Read the stickies for more info on dedicated servers. Actually I think if you do that it'll just give you a link back to this thread.

no one has said this yet... "beavercreek" is one word, not two (you may want to update the first post, even though it's in the readme)
also, the server starts up okay, but it's in the LAN games and not Internet games. Help!!!!!

edit: the "sv_say_message" command is halo ce only, i think. other than that, nope.

there is a way to tell how good a server is (connection-wise). The ping... the higher the ping, the more lag it has.

edit: for anyone having trouble with a server because of firewalls, or because they cannot create a static ip with their router, there is a way to host games. You need to open pc ports 2302 and 2303 to outside activity (probably just halo). port 2302 is what the host listens on and 2303 is the port the server connects to. for more information, see the readme.rta file in the Halo folder.
