Subject: Forge is DEAD

The bungie community has brutally murdered forge and desecrated its unsightly grave. On halo 3 the bungie community would patch anything that would result in any fun on forge. I can understand bungie patching glitches that result in online "matchmaking" (not custom games) to be unfair or laggy but to suck the fun out of the game by patching every little glitch in forge from getting out of the map, making secret bases, or even shooting guns as the monitor, bungie has patched. Why I ask does not matchmaking glitches or mods make a difference? In Star-Wars-Battlefront-2 any one could go out of the map at any time. eventually you can not see the battlefield and everything is white, but you have the freedom to mess around and explore as you please. We need to be able to explore and have fun and have the freedom to make forge the way we want it, is that not the point of forge? to make maps look and feel the way we want them to?
Now in halo Reach forge has been made with kill boundaries so exploration is impossible, freedom is limited and we can no longer enjoy the escape halo provides. One map on reach is created for forge (forge world) every other map you can change minor aspects like weapons but not the actual feel, shape and layout of the map. The options of forge should be limitless. When halo reach was being advertised they created an open world feeling. They advertised a canyon, islands, mountains, and deserts. What peaks can you climb? What dunes can you jump with your hog (and or puma). Bungie has killed the feel of halo which has birthed my bitterness of them, but they are not among redemption and forgiveness. I create this form for all of those who agree with me that forge should represent freedom and the way YOU, not bungie wants it to be, weather it be more exploration, secret bases inside the rock of the cliffs, or an underwater lair beneath the water. I hope that by posting on this thead you will show bungie their errors and see how many agree with me so hopefully it can be changed.

Sgt. Forge? Of course he's dead silly.

He burned up in the mini-nova inside the Forerunner planet.

Bungie is no longer managing the Halo Universe. While our Halo-related forums and stats remain available, be advised that "official" answers and support about the Halo Universe (past, present, or future) are not.

They wouldn't be allowed to change/add anything even if they wanted to.

Now in halo Reach forge has been made with kill boundaries so exploration is impossible,
Halo 3 had as many invisible walls / instant-death barriers as Halo Reach has softkills. Or would you prefer to drop dead inexplicably for glitching even slightly out of the map, instead of being given a chance to survive?

It was limited in Halo 3 as well. Secret areas were not nearly as numerous as you seem to remember.

It should and does.

Go on.

weather it be more exploration, secret bases inside the rock of the cliffs,
The rock is only visible from one side. Those "secret bases", from inside, would appear to be floating in air.

Someone actually discovered survivable and Forgeable water outside Forge World's walls.

Im saying there should be no death barriers or guardians at all. yes have it in matchmaking but in forge or custom games have the option to get outside the barriers and have no countdown or instant death and explore to your likeing

im saying there should have been more opportunities and freedoms, and just because YOU didnt know as many as i did doesnt mean they didnt exist.

Except that Soft Kill Boundaries that are placed in Forge count toward an invisible global object limit. Even if you have budget available, there is a point after which you cannot place any additional objects. If we had to lay down all of the soft boundaries ourselves, then we would have to use even fewer objects than we can now.

Oh, look. Ad hominem.

Can you provide a realistic and technically-feasible manner in which they could be implemented, without posing unnecessary usability and networking challenges?

Posted by: Tanman567
then you make walls and flooring
And this would be different from building the base in the sky on the other side of an impassable cliff or mountain... how, exactly?

Oh, and I may as well respond to your PM here as well.

dont try to make me look stupid maybe you should understand what is being spoken about before you say something.
Maybe you should make a competent counterargument before you resort to using thinly-veiled ad hominem in private.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Yeah, we know Forge died.

He saved the Spirit of Fire from being trapped in the shield world.

its the point of ultimate exploration and freesom to do as you please. Im saying there should be no limit to the amount of items to be placed. Saying that something that exists that you didnt know about isnt ad hominim its a fact, get your logic terms right, try a dictionary. Have complete freedom to buil as you please.
No limit to items (such as the modded maps with thousands of grids)
no budget
complete exploration and freedom OUTSIDE of matchmaking.

And you should probably try to actually make an argument instead of just saying: Oh adhiminim here, or look at this over here, providing pointless verbal annoyance just to make the other side of an argument look unreliable. Im a lawyer. dont try to out logic me, it doesnt work.

Do you know what a memory budget is Tanman? Or do you plan to keep repeating yourself...

  • 08.18.2011 6:42 PM PDT

so what a map takes up more hard drive space, you dont want to take up as much space dont make as big of a map, its about the option to do so if you want to

  • 08.18.2011 6:44 PM PDT

putting a secret base out side of the map where everything looks white will take up the same amount of space as if you put it in the map in the sky

  • 08.18.2011 6:45 PM PDT

Videogames, Anime, and Interwebz. I love it all!

It's not about the space. It's about how much you are making your system render at any given time that matters. You have no idea what you're talking about and should probably stumble out with your tattered dignity in tow.

I would make a Colonel killer.

It will shoot AR's off the map, and the colonels will follow to their death.

You know now that I think about it I want to get a basis of the current knowledge you have. Are you wanting to be able to go to say... the other side of Halo that you see in the sky?

  • 08.18.2011 6:52 PM PDT

you can still allow someone to go outside the map and place items. Play battlefront 2? thats all im talking about. im just saying be able to get past the barriers and make stuff without guardians or barriers killing you. There were places in Halo 3 that you could do this until it was patched. it didnt take up space. It would only take up space if Bungie took the time(not used as an insult) to make further out past the barriers. Im ok with barriers and guardians or whatever in matchmaking but for forge you should have the option to go further

  • 08.18.2011 6:53 PM PDT

Videogames, Anime, and Interwebz. I love it all!

Once again... rendering. Forgeworld itself is only possible because of the amount of tech they were able to build.
